Foster Care for ‘Crusty Bald Dog’ Reveals Surprising Truth: She’s Not a Dog After All!

Date:

They say that love heals, and this has never been truer than in the case of Gloria. When her foster mom, Emily, first spotted her at a North Carolina shelter, she was both captivated and heartbroken. Gloria’s eyes seemed to reach into her soul, despite her less-than-perfect physical condition. Little did this scrappy little dog, who looked like a worm, realize that Emily and her friend, Roni, would transform her life forever!

Gloria Was Not A Puppy At All

Emily and Roni, seasoned fosters working with Hope Animal Rescue, didn’t hesitate to bring Gloria, affectionately known as Glo, home. Immediately, they were enchanted by this beautiful pup and committed to helping her recover from a serious case of mange. With crusty skin and near baldness, Glo had a long road ahead, made even sadder by the pain she must have endured while roaming the streets as a stray.

Yet, despite her past, Glo radiated genuine sweetness and a kind demeanor from the moment she entered the shelter. While everyone thought she was just a few weeks old, the truth was revealed during her first vet visit: she was a full-grown adult dog! Emily recalls, “I thought she was a nine to ten-week-old puppy. She was so sweet, but I could tell she was in a lot of pain.” Glo’s innocent appearance had fooled everyone into thinking she was a tiny pup.

In the following six weeks, with baths, regular medical care, and a nurturing environment, Glo began to flourish. By the end of week six, she dazzled everyone with an incredible transformation!

Emily and Roni couldn’t have been prouder of Gloria’s transformation; she looked like a new dog with beautiful fur and striking eyes. With her mange finally healed, it’s safe to say that Glo looked like a doggo princess!

Now, she joyfully flaunts her excitement, fully embodying her happy-go-lucky persona as she thrives in her foster home.

“It’s incredible to think that less than two months ago, Glo was a stray living alone; now she’s transformed into a princess ready to rule her kingdom,” Hope Animal Rescue shared on Instagram.

And, did she look cute? Absolutely!
