Cheri and Ward Wells, devoted dog lovers and long-time rescuers of special-needs dogs from LoveyLoaves in Orlando, Florida, received an urgent call about Noelle some five years back.

It was the day before Christmas Eve when a family reached out to them about a litter of Chi puppies, all facing some birth defects. Little Noelle, just a couple of weeks old, was one of them and was born without her front legs.

Her mother rejected her and refused to care for her, prompting the family to surrender her to a shelter. Cheri and Ward acted swiftly, embracing Noelle into their temporary foster home without hesitation.

“It was far too soon for her to be away from her mother, but the alternatives were bleak. So we named our new Christmas angel Noelle and began bottle-feeding her constantly while showering her with affection,” the LoveyLoaves team shared in a Facebook post.

From day one, Noelle required substantial care. She needed to be bottle-fed with formula every few hours, and the couple dedicated themselves to nurturing this tiny pup.

As the weeks progressed, Noelle began experiencing trembling, vomiting, and shortness of breath. The couple provided her with nebulizer treatments to prevent pneumonia, but soon tests revealed she had a dairy intolerance.

Relieved that her condition wasn’t severe, Cheri and Ward were excited to see Noelle fully embrace her puppyhood!

At first, she struggled to move; she could only inch and push around. Cheri and Ward were uncertain about how she would navigate at all.

Then they devised a plan to get Noelle specially designed wheels. They sought to get her accustomed to them as soon as possible, and they succeeded!

It took some time for her to adjust, but soon she embraced her wheels like she had always been using them!

Eventually, Noelle began running outdoors, reveling in her freedom alongside other dogs. It was an emotional moment to witness her finally moving (almost) unencumbered.

Her biggest milestone arrived when she learned to eat from an elevated food dish.

Once a shy pup, Noelle blossomed into a confident dog ready to embrace new adventures. She flourished in her newfound confidence and soon ruled the house.

She even began jumping on and off the bed, seeking cuddles from her parents.

Cheri and Ward, realizing how vital Noelle had become in their lives, knew that they could not let her go. This inspiring Chi became a cherished foster fail and found her forever home with her loving parents.

Today, Noelle charms everyone she encounters and has become a special-needs dog ambassador!

“We couldn’t ask for a better ambassador for special-needs dogs than this little chi. She’s so chill, patient, accepting, tolerant, and a million more positive attributes when it comes to everyone,” the LoveyLoaves team posted on Facebook.

Each new day, Noelle continues to bring joy to her pawrents. We genuinely hope she keeps living her best life!
