Sky, an older rescue dog, dedicated her best years to a family that ultimately deserted her when she needed their love and support the most.
Her previous owners brought her to the veterinary clinic, where they made the decision to abandon her, leaving Sky in a state of confusion.
This sweet dog suddenly found herself without the only home she had ever known.
Life at the Shelter
Sky was taken in by the Good Dog-Dog Talk Animal Rescue in Brea, California.
The shelter staff felt a wave of heartbreak upon meeting the ten-year-old dog and seeing her plight.
This girl, who was blind in one eye, was severely malnourished, weighing just around thirty pounds.
Considering her state, the staff suspected that Sky had been confined to a backyard and exploited for breeding.
“With her allergies, overgrown nails, and being extremely underweight, it’s evident that she was neglected in a backyard, likely used for breeding and then discarded. Sky certainly deserves so much more,” stated a representative from Good Dog-Dog Talk Animal Rescue to Newsweek.
Upon her arrival at the shelter, Sky appeared timid and a bit anxious.
The caring staff offered her comfort and nourishment. Although she was shy, the hungry dog eagerly devoured the food provided.
After her first soothing bath, Sky’s caregivers took her outside, allowing her some time to unwind in the yard.
As she began to trust the staff, Sky approached them, resting her head on their laps. She realized she was in a safe space.
Seeking Unconditional Love
The senior dog adapted beautifully to her new shelter environment.
Whenever Sky sees the volunteers approaching her kennel to take her for a walk, she eagerly wags her tail, full of joy.
She adores cuddling with them and craves their affection.
A dedicated volunteer shared Sky’s journey on her TikTok account, hoping to help this sweet dog find her forever home.
“She is the kindest, most gentle soul, simply longing for her golden years to be filled with love and comfort,” wrote the big-hearted volunteer in the video description.
Sky truly deserves to find a family willing to offer her the love and care that were absent in her former home.
She has so much love to give and eagerly awaits the chance to snuggle up in her new parent’s embrace and experience their unconditional love.
