Piglet has lost count of how many times she has sat by her kennel door, feeling unloved and unworthy.
For the past two years, this sweet dog hoped that someone would finally notice her and provide her with a loving home.
Unfortunately, that wish remained unfulfilled. Piglet observed many other dogs being taken home by their new families.
She longed to be among them, eager to experience what it feels like to be chosen.
Even with daily disappointments, Piglet never allowed despair to overshadow her spirit.
This cheerful pup maintained her smile, believing that her happiest days were just around the corner.
The Journey of Piglet
This canine was found wandering the streets of New Jersey in 2022, feeling lost and alone.
Her name, Piglet, was inspired by her curly piglet-like tail.
“We don’t know what happened to her tail, but it’s a curly-cue – and it makes her absolutely adorable!” the shelter shared in a Facebook update.
Piglet was taken to a Newark shelter, where she spent four months before moving to the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter in Forked River.
From the moment she arrived at the shelter, Piglet won over the staff with her cheerful demeanor and irresistible smile.
They were confident she would capture the hearts of potential adopters visiting the shelter.
The hope of being adopted gave Piglet the motivation she needed to keep going.
Piglet dreamed of waking up in her own home, cuddling with her family, and soaking in all the love.
After spending more than 600 days at the shelter, she never lost hope that her day would come. With her trademark smile, she continued to await the one who would finally fall for her.
A Heartfelt Cry for Help from the Shelter
Sadly, the shelter environment began taking a toll on Piglet.
She developed allergies and is currently undergoing treatment. The staff is hopeful that her condition will improve once she finds her forever home.
They feel disheartened to see Piglet continually overlooked.
The shelter has launched an appeal, urging a kind family to offer Piglet the loving home she has been yearning for.
“It’s far too long for this sweet girl to be sitting here, hoping someone will see her,” they expressed on Facebook.
Piglet’s friends at the shelter are rooting for her. They believe that once someone meets her, they will understand just how special she is.
“We absolutely adore this goofy girl and hope that someone else sees the same wonderful qualities we see in her. She’s just under four years old and brimming with energy and playfulness,” the shelter shared.
My heartfelt wish is that lovely Piglet will soon find a wonderful family who will cherish her as she truly deserves.
