Emaciated Dog Found Tied to Fence at Abandoned School Just Before a Tragic Incident

Date:

Hunger is the primary concern for abandoned dogs. Once they are deprived of food, their fate is often sealed. Food is crucial for their survival in harsh conditions, yet only a fortunate few get regular meals. Most survive on scraps, trash, twigs, and rocks.

Levey, a lovely pup with striking two-toned eyes, was one of these unfortunate dogs. Abandoned and tied to a fence in front of a desolate school, she was in a horrific state when discovered. The length of time she endured such neglect was unimaginable.

She Was On The Edge

When a compassionate passerby spotted Levey, they were horrified. She was tied with no food or water near her and had become skin and bones. Immediately, they contacted animal control, who assessed her grave condition and took her to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.

Despite current capacity limitations, the Stray Rescue team was eager to help Levey. She was on the brink of a disaster and required immediate care. They quickly comforted her and formulated a recovery plan.

“She’s scared but already seeking our laps for comfort. She weighs only 23 pounds,” reported the Missouri rescue on Facebook.

Levey was fed small, frequent portions of food to prevent refeeding syndrome. This method successfully helped her ease back into eating, and within days, the transformation was evident.

After just a week, Levey was a transformed pup. Although still underweight and not quite ready for adoption, her energy and cheerful demeanor had returned!

Ready For A New Life

All Levey wants to do is play! She’s a sweet, joyful pup, thrilled to be in her new environment, eager to embrace new adventures. Being a social butterfly only adds to her charm.

Levey has already found a best friend, Alaric, and they share their days together with boundless energy and affection for one another!

“Not only did you fall in love with them, but they have fallen in love with each other! They are both at a safe weight to leave the shelter and go to a foster home,” stated SRSL.

Levey will be available for adoption when the time is right. For now, she just needs a caring foster home and someone dedicated to continuing her feeding plan… and showering her with love!

I sincerely hope this happens soon! Best of luck, Levey! We can’t wait to hear your next update.
