Adri and her partner were on a remote road heading back to their home in Georgia when they spotted a Beagle crossing the street. Concerned for her well-being, they promptly halted their vehicle and rushed to assist her.
As soon as they held her in their arms, they were saddened to see the timid pup looking so scared and disheartened.
Adri gently petted the little dog and reassured her that she was safe now. The couple decided to take her home.
Winning Over Mocha’s Heart

They held out hope that someone was searching for the sweet girl, despite her lacking a collar or microchip. The couple reached out to shelters and shared her photos online, but no one came forward.
Mocha was frightened and avoided making eye contact with her rescuers. Constantly with her tail tucked away, she would often hide her face beneath the small furniture in their home. It broke Adri’s heart to see Mocha so withdrawn.
“From the very beginning, it was evident that she wasn’t accustomed to being indoors or interacting with humans,” Adri recounted to The Dodo.

Adri and her partner decided to name the dog Mocha and began to earn her trust gradually. They hand-fed her, hoping to win her over.
Fearing that Mocha might have been separated from her puppies, they returned to the location where they found her. They searched but sadly found no sign of any puppies.
Realization dawned on Adri and her partner that Mocha’s previous owners likely abandoned her after she had given birth.
Introducing Mocha to Other Rescue Dogs

When they introduced Mocha to their other rescue dogs, everything began to improve. The other pups showed Mocha how to embrace her canine nature. They welcomed her and played with her outdoors.
Mocha, initially hesitating to let Adri close, began socializing through the glass patio door.
At first, Adri would place her hand against the glass and call out to Mocha. As the other dogs rushed to the door at the sight of their mom, Mocha gradually followed suit.
This method made Mocha feel more secure in her interactions with Adri, though she was still skittish. If Adri opened the door, Mocha would bolt.
Over time, Adri extended her hand through the door, and Mocha responded by covering her hand with sweet kisses.
Mocha Finally Finds Safety

After four weeks, a remarkable change occurred. Mocha approached Adri and sat beside her, marking the first time she chose to come near of her own accord.
“When she sat next to me for the first time, she wasn’t searching for an exit. I hadn’t even given her any treats. I noticed her eyes were still darting around, but she just sat beside me,” Adri shared.
As Adri and her partner continued to shower Mocha with love, her trust in them blossomed. With their affection and patience, her fears gradually faded away.

“Since that moment, we’ve made remarkable progress. She now climbs onto my lap and allows me to pet her everywhere. Witnessing this transformation makes all the effort worthwhile,” she reflected.
Initially, Adri and her partner intended to find a loving family for Mocha, but over time, it became clear that she had already found her home. Their Georgia residence was the place where she truly belonged.
We are delighted that Mocha has found a wonderful family that showers her with the love she rightfully deserves. The pup finally has the joyful home she had always dreamed of.
