This charming street pup faced a roller coaster of events as 2023 drew to a close. Bonnie was discovered wandering the streets of Oklahoma City alongside her dear companion, Clyde.

The pair were inseparable, sharing every moment together. Their steadfast loyalty continued even at the shelter, where, heartbreakingly, they had to separate for good.

The Best Buds In The World

It’s heartwarming to see the way street dogs look out for each other. When Bonnie and Clyde were rescued by the wonderful folks at
Stillwater Animal Welfare, they insisted on staying together.

The team mentioned that while most rescue dogs usually adapt and become independent at the shelter, this duo was an exception.

Their boundless loyalty and affection for one another left a lasting impression on everyone, and the crew was delighted to have them together.

Bonnie and Clyde’s past remains a mystery. Rescued from the streets, both dogs were in poor health. They were both diagnosed with heartworms and needed significant medical attention.

The good news is that this duo responded exceptionally well to treatment, and within days, their personalities began to shine.

Bonnie and Clyde instantly became the shelter’s favorites, expressing their gratitude through smeared kisses as they embraced a new chance at life.

Bonnie thrived during her first month at the shelter. Here’s what her team had to say about her on Facebook:

“Bonnie came to us as a stray with her brother and was never claimed… She is about 45 pounds. Bonnie is heartworm positive. She is good with other dogs so far and loves food.”

However, just as she was beginning to enjoy her new surroundings, Clyde was adopted. He found a wonderful family, leaving Bonnie heartbroken.

Following his departure, Bonnie retreated into herself. She lay in her kennel, showing no interest in her surroundings, waiting for her brother’s return.

“Bonnie is all alone since her brother got adopted, and she definitely misses having a sibling to cuddle with,” wrote SAW on Facebook.

Happily Ever After

Adapting to life without Clyde proved challenging for Bonnie. She felt lost and unsure of how to move forward. Then came the enchantment of December!

Just around the corner, a wonderful woman named Brayden Routh came to the shelter, ready to meet Bonnie and offer her a loving home.

The moment they met, a connection sparked. Bonnie was thrilled to greet her new mom, as if she had been waiting for Brayden to come and take her home. And off they went!

Bonnie finally found a loving family and a warm home where she could express her true self. She even gained a big sister—a Blue Heeler named Tally.

In just a few days, Bonnie’s life transformed for the better. She flourished into a vibrant pup, ready to embark on new adventures, with Tally by her side!

The initial days for this street girl were filled with excitement. She made numerous new friends and quickly became the family’s beloved pet. Her true spirit shone brightly after so long, bringing immense joy to her mom.
