Today, however, we’re talking about a furry companion who shares a special connection with someone he can only gaze at. And he does that exceptionally well!
An Unusual Friendship
Like any other dog, Morty the Corgi enjoys his time outdoors.
The moment his humans open the back door, he dashes to the yard but not for the reasons you might expect.
Instead of running around or playing with his brother, he stands by the fish pond!
“Whenever we let the dogs outside, Morty races straight for the koi pond. He has no intention of harming the fish; he simply adores them,” Kingsley shared with The Dodo.
However, one day while enjoying the company of the fish, Morty accidentally fell into the pond.
To ensure Morty’s safety, his humans enrolled him in swimming classes. But, there was one catch – Morty despises water.
Instead of leaping in, he merely walked around the pool, barking and refusing to join.
He behaved similarly at the koi pond—instead of barking, he quietly watched the koi swim leisurely by.
Friendship Has No Limits
When Morty gets too excited, he barks excessively.
His humans often attempt to lure him back inside with delicious treats.
“I try to avoid disturbing our neighbors, so when he gets overly hyped up by the koi pond, I always bring him back inside with food. He’s very motivated by snacks,” he added.
Fortunately, Morty’s humans found a way for him to enjoy his time with fish indoors as well—by purchasing stuffed toy fish.
As soon as Morty encountered one of the stuffed toys, he was completely smitten! He was so thrilled that his humans decided to buy him even more.
Yet, nothing could truly replace the real thing!
“He is still enamored with his fish. I believe it just reinforced his fascination. He returned to his obsession with the koi,” he mentioned.

Dogs are incredibly dear to us.
Their hearts overflow with love, which they generously share with everyone around them.
This is why we must safeguard them at all costs! As humans, we have a responsibility to create a world where our furry companions can thrive and enjoy happy, healthy lives.
