On a frigid day in East St. Louis, a forlorn pup named Adobe wandered aimlessly, desperate for warmth and nourishment. As he trudged through the snow and ice, his paws turned red, and he shivered uncontrollably. Recognizing that he could not survive on his own, Adobe sought assistance from humans, choosing a house at random, hopeful for some compassion.
A Heartbreaking Cry For Help
Desperately circling the house and whining, Adobe pleaded for someone to let him in. Teenage girls at home heard his cries and, feeling sympathy for the little guy, opened the door and welcomed him into their garage. They wrapped him in blankets and provided him with toys, offering comfort and warmth, which filled Adobe with gratitude and a renewed sense of hope.
Thankfully, the girls’ mother reached out to Gateway Pet Guardians in East St. Louis to report the pup’s arrival. Jill, the director of operations at the shelter, came to pick him up, noticing right away that Adobe wore a nice harness and appeared to have been cared for.
Despite his clean appearance, it was evident that Adobe had been alone for some time; he shivered intensely as Jill placed him in her van.
“When I got him into the van, he was shivering really, really hard. His face and feet were bright red, possibly nearing frostbite,” Jill shared with GeoBeats Animals. Despite her years at the rescue, she had never encountered a dog so cold before.
Upon arriving at the shelter, Adobe was seen by a vet. Other than being slightly underweight, he was in good health.
The Pup Shows His Loving Disposition
The day following his arrival at the shelter, staff brought him to the office, where Adobe’s delightful disposition won them over instantly. His joyful leaps and wagging tail manifested his gratitude, and he quickly established bonds with his new human companions by affectionately nuzzling them.
The staff suspected Adobe had once enjoyed a loving home, but tragically, he was found without a microchip. Determined to reunite him with his original owners, they hung flyers and posted his information on various lost and found sites, though no one came forward.
As Adobe adjusts to his new environment, much about his past remains unknown. However, the shelter is certain of one thing: he is a true sweetheart. “What we do know is that he’s an absolute love bug with the biggest, most charming head and an irresistibly handsome face that melts your heart,” they wrote on Facebook.
As no one came forward to reclaim Adobe, the shelter made the decision to find him a foster home where he could thrive and eventually discover his forever family. While he enjoys the love from the shelter staff, Adobe eagerly awaits the day he will meet the family that will give him a permanent home and a joyful future.
