Just as she was drifting off to sleep in her cozy bed on a chilly winter’s night, Lisa Reams from Mississippi noticed her phone glowing. Curiosity crept in as she pondered, “Who could it be?”
A concerned individual had sent a message alerting her to a dog left alone at a notorious dumpster site.
The distressed dog was huddled up on a dirty couch next to the dumpsters, trembling from both the cold and perhaps fear.
Lisa’s heart shattered upon reading the message; a torrent of sadness engulfed her. There would be no sleep for her until she ensured that this sweet pup was safe.
A Gentle Hand Of Comfort
Without hesitation, Lisa leaped out of bed, still dressed in her pajamas, and drove to the known dumping location.
“I was heartbroken, knowing how freezing it was outside. I couldn’t rest until I had her secure and warm,” Lisa recounted to The Dodo.
Upon arrival, Lisa quickly noticed a vulnerable little girl who had been betrayed by humans in the cruellest way.
The dog, later named Cammi, shivered as her sorrowful eyes met Lisa’s. Recognizing that help had arrived, Cammi eagerly began to wag her tail, longing for love.
“She was trembling so fiercely. Letting me show her affection and putting a leash on her was a relief. She walked right to my truck, snuggling into a large blanket I had in the back seat while the seat warmers were on. She was completely at ease and dozed off during the ride home,” Lisa shared.
Cammi understood she was safe at last and could finally unwind, free from her worries about the future.
Beginning A New, Joyful Chapter
Cammi, an adorable one-and-a-half-year-old mixed-breed pup, has been residing with her rescuer, Lisa, while they search for her forever home.
“Lisa Reams, a dedicated rescuer in Mississippi, has been a beacon of hope for numerous dogs like Cammi,” noted NYC Second Chance Rescue in their post.
According to Lisa, Cammi is sweet and gentle, adores cuddles, loves basking in the sun, and enjoys playing with her canine friends.
Thanks to the efforts of Lisa, Cammi, like many other dogs she has rescued, can move on from her troubled past and begin a much happier journey.
Cammi has successfully passed her dog assessments and will undoubtedly be a wonderful addition to the right family. She has also been spayed, vet-checked, and has initiated her heartworm treatment.
“Fingers crossed she’ll be adopted and find her forever family. However, if that doesn’t happen, she’ll seamlessly transition into a foster home to continue her journey,” stated Lisa.
