Dog Rescued After Months in a Texas Parking Lot Finally Experiences Love

Date:

When a lonely stray dog showed up in the parking lot of a Hyatt hotel in Texas, hotel staff and guests were taken aback. Sensing kindness from these strangers, the pup began visiting nightly, and everyone welcomed him warmly, providing food and affection. Although they knew little about him, they recognized he craved companionship and love.

Capturing The Dog

The hotel guests ensured their furry companion dined on delicious meals. “They were returning from restaurants with — I’m not lying — gourmet meals, like steak… a whole pork chop and fajitas,” said Jodi Leslie, director of community outreach at Three Little Pitties Rescue, to The Dodo. The dog was truly grateful for their generosity.

One day, a hotel guest noticed the stray dog wandering around and, realizing he was lost, she took to Facebook to seek assistance.

Luckily, Three Little Pitties Rescue, a non-profit organization in Houston, Texas, saw the post. Upon learning that the dog had been living in the parking lot for two months, they sprang into action to ensure his safety. They managed to trap the dog, and one of the staff members took him home. However, the transition to a foster home was unsettling for the stray pup, who felt out of place and longed for the streets. The very next day, he vanished without a trace.

His foster mother searched tirelessly, but it was futile. “He was missing for three days and could not be found,” Leslie recounted.

The Pup’s New Beginning

Just when hope began to fade, the pup returned to the hotel parking lot, eight miles away from his foster home, leaving everyone puzzled about how he traveled that distance in just three days. The rescuers called in professional trappers who successfully caught the dog once more. Leslie decided to foster the pup, naming him Hyatt after the hotel.

The hotel staff quickly grew fond of Hyatt and were saddened when he left. However, they understood the importance of giving him a loving home. Adjusting to foster life was challenging; Hyatt was anxious and nervous, likely because he had never experienced a warm home or a caring family. Leslie patiently allowed him the time he needed, showering him with love.

Eventually, Hyatt began to adjust, meeting Leslie’s other dogs who helped him learn how to be a proper pet. As time passed, he grew more comfortable and even started jumping onto Leslie’s bed, seeking cuddles. Although he’s still shy, the love and patience shown to him have enabled him to open up more. The joyful pup is finally ready to begin a new chapter in his life, hoping to find a forever family who will embrace him alongside playful dog siblings.
