Cali’s Journey
When Cali was taken in by her family, she was thriving in her new home. They adored her and she was a beloved member of the household.
Everything was perfect until tragedy struck. Cali was stolen from her backyard in Long Island, throwing her family into despair.
The heartbroken family searched tirelessly for her, but their efforts were futile. Hope seemed lost.
After two long years, a rescue group known as Broken Promises Sanctuary caught wind of a neglected dog in need of urgent care. It turned out to be Cali, though none were aware of this at that moment.
She was discovered at a gas station in New Jersey, appearing lifeless. The staff there provided her with care until the rescuers arrived.
A young Navy recruit named Alexandra Salomon transported her to Broken Promises Sanctuary where the team worked diligently to revive her since she was critically weak.
A Heartbreaking Development
Following an arduous recovery process, she was finally stable and could rest for a while. The vets conducted a microchip scan and, thankfully, found one.
They attempted to contact her owners, but responses were slow. Eventually, Brittney diBartolo, her owner, got back to them with the incredible news that her beloved dog was found.
Overwhelmed with joy, she and her family were eager to reunite with Cali. However, the veterinarians soon discovered that Cali’s condition was dire and she had a tumor.
This was devastating news, but hope remained. A GoFundMe page was set up to help cover her medical expenses.
By June 2023, they successfully raised $8,000 to begin her treatment. After some time, her condition improved, and she was ready to reunite with her family.
The reunion was nothing short of spectacular. The entire family was elated to have Cali back in their lives.
But unfortunately, her health began to decline rapidly. She spent several cherished months with her loving family before she succumbed to her illness.
Cali has crossed the rainbow bridge and is now in a peaceful place. While her family will always miss her, they will cherish the beautiful memories they made together.
