Logan has consistently proven to be an exceptional family pet, whether for his furry companions or the forever family that would come into his life later on.
He was discovered as a stray in Texas alongside a pregnant partner. The pups were his own, and he chose to remain by her side during the birthing process.
After the arrival of the puppies, a rescue organization stepped in to take care of the mother and her six pups, but they opted to leave Logan behind, condemning him to euthanasia.
Logan was on the verge of being euthanized immediately, but fortunately, he was rescued at the last possible moment.
Rescue Mission for Logan

While Logan waited at a Texas high-kill shelter facing euthanasia, a compassionate staff member saw remarkable potential in him and managed to postpone his euthanasia date twice.
Fortunately, this opportunity allowed for Logan’s transfer to a Colorado-based shelter. Soon after, he was adopted by a loving couple in Colorado.
“We went to meet him, and I remember thinking, ‘Wow, we just met our new dog.’ He was so thin, frightened, and shy,” recalled Alison Dickson, Logan’s adoptive mother, during an interview with GeoBeats Animals.

In the initial days at his new home, Logan remained quite timid and reserved, worried about making mistakes or breaking rules that might lead to him being abandoned again.
His new parents, avid nature enthusiasts, decided to take Logan hiking, which turned out to be a transformative experience for him.

As Logan’s confidence grew, he began to realize that he had truly found his forever family, one that would never abandon him.
“He is such an incredible athlete. He knows when I pull out my hiking bag, and he gets so excited,” Alison shared.
Family Protector

Following Logan’s adoption, the family took in another dog, a mutt named Phoenix, along with two cats, Milo and Lucy.
“Phoenix is a snuggly little bundle of joy who has no clue that she was ever a rescue,” Alison remarked.
Phoenix quickly became the perfect addition to their home, with Logan and her forming a strong friendship, complemented by the cats.

While Alison works from home, her husband often travels for work. Whenever he is away, Logan steps up as the family’s protector.
“Logan is incredibly loyal. It’s almost as if he believes he is looking out for my husband. When my husband is gone, Logan tends to sleep on the side of the couch facing the door, remaining alert and watchful,” Alison explained.
Alison likens Logan to Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, a true guardian with profound emotions.
Since his adoption, Logan has experienced a wealth of new sights, scents, and adventures. He is now a genuinely happy dog.
“From being a stray on Texas streets, to facing the euthanasia list in a shelter (💔!!), to the wonderful individuals and rescue who brought him to us…my life is immensely richer with Logan in it,” Alison expressed in an Instagram post.
