Many people fail to understand just how fragile a dog’s heart is. If they comprehended the depths of heartbreak these loyal companions experience every time they part from their loved ones, they would rush to give them the biggest hug imaginable.
Sadly, Bruce’s experience was anything but warm. After seven years of devotion to his family, he was heartlessly abandoned in the dead of night without a second thought. With tears in his eyes, he watched their car disappear into the darkness.
They Just Drove Away
It’s heartbreaking to imagine how Bruce felt as he watched his family’s car drive away while he was tied to a tree in front of the Humane Society of Broward County, Florida. “My family tied me to a tree at the shelter in the middle of the night and then they drove away. I didn’t know what to do, so I cried into the night,” the rescue shared on social media.
Bruce held on to the hope that he might hear that familiar car again, but it never happened. Fortunately, a kind passerby noticed him and alerted the rescue, which rushed him inside to provide the love he desperately needed. However, the trauma from his abandonment still lingered.
This seven-year-old boy was so heartbroken that he isolated himself, turning away from the world. His caregivers decided to place a note on his kennel door explaining Bruce’s situation in hopes of helping him find a new home faster. “I loved them so much. Since I’ve been here, I’ve been very down in the dumps,” the note read.
