Dog Abandoned by Owner Can’t Find a Home Because of His ‘Unwanted Color’

Date:

Every dog deserves affection, regardless of their coat color. Unfortunately, numerous furry friends are frequently bypassed in shelters simply because their fur isn’t considered “stylish”.

Such was the case for Rick, a dog who waited two months in a rescue facility in Austin, Texas, wishing for someone to notice him.

This black boy spent his days confined to a crate due to space limitations, only getting brief moments to run and roam. Each day brought Rick little moments of heartbreak, and his hope began to wane.

Then, something wonderful occurred!

67 Days at the Shelter

Rick Ross the Boss Dawg, as he is now affectionately known, arrived at Austin Animal Center as an abandoned puppy. A passerby noted that he was heartlessly discarded from his owner’s vehicle and left on the roadside.

His owners simply drove away, leaving Rick frightened and alone. Thankfully, a kind soul witnessed this act of cruelty and brought him to safety.

“They took him out of the car and just drove off,” Friends of Austin Animal Center shared on Facebook.

Volunteer Kate Parker Duhon was instantly smitten with this gentle boy and stepped up to foster him. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving at her home, Rick was diagnosed with CCL tears and required surgery on both knees.
