Elsa, a homeless dog, was discovered wandering the streets alongside her companion, Hugo. She required immediate medical care due to a significant mite infestation.
When the team from Ray Animal Rescue came to assist her, Elsa displayed remarkable affection and friendliness, as if she sensed their intentions to help her. Yet, her desire to stay with Hugo was the most selfless reason for her hesitation in accepting rescue.
Gorgeous Elsa Required Immediate Medical Attention

Upon first encountering Elsa, the Ray Animal Rescue team noted her dire condition, battling a severe mite infestation. Her skin was sore, flaky, and inflamed, leading to frequent scratching and missing fur patches.
Attempts to load her into a vehicle for veterinary care were met with adorable resistance, as Elsa was determined not to leave Hugo behind.
This act of loyalty deeply moved the RAR staff, prompting them to ensure both Elsa and Hugo were brought to their facility.
“We immediately got into the car – both of them did because we couldn’t leave Hugo, of course.”
She Found the Perfect Foster Family

In the initial months, Elsa required round-the-clock care. The team provided her with regular baths over two months to eliminate the mites. Although the process was slow and demanding, the crucial part was that Elsa gradually improved.
As time passed at the RAR facility, Elsa began eating better, her skin condition improved, and she started engaging in playful activities.
This large dog faced challenges in making friends with others at the facility, so the team sought a suitable foster arrangement. Fortunately, they succeeded.
Elsa found a loving foster home where she was welcomed with open arms and another canine companion. Her foster family showered her with affection and proper care. Even though her stay was meant to be temporary, something magical occurred.
Hugo Was Quickly Adopted, Unlike Elsa
Due to Hugo being smaller and lacking health issues, he was adopted long before Elsa. While a few visitors showed interest in Elsa, none were finalized.
In a way, her foster family appreciated the delay in finding a suitable candidate, as they quickly formed a bond with Elsa and wished for her to stay longer.
When the last family visited regarding Elsa’s potential adoption, her foster mother felt particularly distressed.
“When a family came to see her, I was really upset and I really cried because I didn’t want to give her away.”
Following that visit, she realized she could not continue as Elsa’s foster parent; she wanted her to remain with them permanently!
From Foster to Forever Family

After months of seeking her forever home, Elsa finally found the perfect one! Her foster family embraced her as their own, bringing joy to both sides.
Though she was the second dog in the family, Elsa integrated beautifully and formed a lovely bond with everyone.
In her foster home, she honed her social abilities, relishing visits from guests and blossoming from her introverted nature into a cheerful, sociable household companion.
Elsa, The Happiest Dog on Earth

Today, Elsa is the happiest dog ever, exuberantly bounding about with her family. Yet, her joy extends beyond mere play.
In addition to her backyard antics, Elsa enjoys taking walks, visiting the beach, and spending time with the family cats. Yes, she has two feline friends with whom she loves to snuggle! She doesn’t mind playful teasing or being climbed upon either.

Once a lonely stray, Elsa now possesses everything she ever dreamed of!
