Sometimes, timely decisions yield the best results and can even save lives! If it hadn’t been for a courageous woman that day, Petey, the stray, might not have survived.
This little pup was hiding under a tree in Garden Grove, California, when a passerby noticed him. However, he was too scared to approach. To avoid adding to his anxiety, the stranger shared Petey’s photo on social media, which prompted a compassionate woman to take life-saving action!
“I Knew He Wouldn’t Make It Through The Night”
It was Suzette Hall, a dedicated rescuer from Logan’s Legacy, who saw Petey’s photo and rushed to help. Concerned about the pup’s safety, especially since she learned from locals that the area was filled with coyotes, she was determined to save him.
“Poor baby thought he was safe there, but with the coyotes, he wasn’t. I knew he wouldn’t make it through the night,” Suzette expressed on her Facebook.
Anxious And Timid, Petey Needed Time To Calm Down
Upon arriving at the location, Hall noticed Petey was anxiously sitting in the same spot for quite a while, seemingly looking for his family as he tried to protect himself. The rescue didn’t go as intended initially; he was too scared to be approached. Hall had to reconsider her strategy, so she set up two humane traps filled with dog food on opposite sides of the field and distanced herself to give Petey space.
After some time, Petey found the courage to enter the trap, finally ensuring his safety!
“He was starving, circling my trap. He would stretch his tiny legs as far as he could, too scared to go to the back. Then he mustered up enough courage to finally take the leap,” Suzette shared.
Transforming Into The Sweetest Lovebug
After a while, Petey finally relaxed and allowed Hall to pet him. The instant he felt her gentle touch, he transformed into the sweetest lovebug! It was late in the evening, so Hall chose to spend the night in her car with Petey and take him to the vet the following morning.
Suzette even shared a photo of him with Garden Grove Lost Dogs, Cats & Pets in hopes of reuniting him with his family, but unfortunately, no one came forward. Petey was then placed in foster care, where he underwent a remarkable transformation into the sweetest pup! As he waited for a forever home, he thrived, enjoying every moment with his foster family and new dog siblings.
Ultimately, all it took for Petey to find happiness was a timely decision and a little bit of love!
