Alicia and Thom McCallum have shown remarkable dedication to their beloved dogs over the years.
In their journey of fostering dogs, they’ve never let obstacles deter them from their passionate commitment—this includes their own wedding! Living in California, the couple learned about four helpless newborn puppies that were in dire need of a temporary home, and they readily welcomed them into their lives.
Despite the wedding being only a month away, they successfully balanced the demanding 24/7 care for the puppies along with their wedding planning—complete with some sleepless nights.
And the outcome? Simply phenomenal!
The Pawfect Wedding Plan
Alicia and Thom are fiercely committed to assisting dogs in need.
Before they agreed to foster these four adorable puppies, they had already rescued many other dogs, including their own pets, Ruby and Pogo.
When Thom was alerted about another litter in need of assistance, he acted without a moment’s hesitation. He recognized that, despite their packed agenda, it was the right choice.
Alicia fully supported his decision!
The couple brought the puppies home and cared for them for a month leading up to their wedding. That’s when the inspiration struck them—why not involve all four puppies in their wedding ceremony?
Alongside Ruby and Pogo, the foster puppies played a unique role on the couple’s special day. Each puppy was carried down the aisle by a groomsman, creating an enchanting atmosphere!
“We had a puppy in the hands of each of my groomsmen. It turned out perfectly. It was a magical wedding,” Thom shared with The Dodo.
The delightful surprise captivated everyone present, and the puppies melted hearts all around! Their participation in Thom and Alicia’s wedding ceremony was nothing short of adorable.
“It was essential for us to have our fur babies and fosters take part in our wedding. I still can’t believe that we managed to do it,” Alicia commented on her Instagram.
But that wasn’t the end of it!
A couple of weeks after the wedding, Thom had another special surprise in store for his new bride!
The Final Surprise Makes It Even Better
Knowing that Alicia had become especially close to one of the pups, Thom orchestrated the ultimate post-wedding surprise! Once Kitty the puppy turned eight weeks old, he made the decision to keep her forever.
Thom lovingly placed Kitty in a basket outside, accompanied by a sign that read, “Forever,” and then called Alicia outside.
Her reaction was nothing short of priceless!
“And just like that, we became a family of five. Welcome home, Kitty McCallum,” Alicia shared in a heartfelt Instagram video.
Alicia and Thom are overjoyed to have Kitty as part of their family in California.
“She’s absolutely precious. Just look at her! She’s so loving, fluffy, and a total sweetheart,” shares Alicia.
Kitty quickly adapted to living with Ruby and Pogo and is over the moon with her new family. Her siblings have already found loving homes, leaving Kitty where she belongs—with those who cherish her the most.
