This saying embodies the spirit of animal rescuers who live their lives dedicated to helping those in need. Even when they are off duty, these compassionate individuals never ignore a dog in distress, and that is what sets them apart!
When a group of individuals discovered a distressed dog trapped in a city sewer, they acted quickly. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, they reached out to the best rescuer among them for assistance!
The Noble Mission
Randy Grim, the founder of Stray Rescue of St. Louis in Missouri, has devoted his life to rescuing dogs in peril. Upon hearing about a senior dog trapped in a sewer, he immediately went to the scene.
The dog was visibly frightened, but Randy knew exactly what to do! He carefully descended into the sewer, approached the terrified pup, and gently comforted him with a soft touch.
He then cradled the dog in his arms, soothing him until he felt safe. And sure enough, the dog began to relax!
The two shared a beautiful moment during the rescue, and despite the dog still being in shock, he felt a sense of relief knowing that Randy was there to help.
After a few moments of comfort, Randy successfully lifted the dog out of danger. The pup was overjoyed to bask in the sun’s warmth once more.
Then, something heartwarming occurred!
Moments after being rescued, the dog returned to Randy for more cuddles, as if expressing his gratitude. Everyone rejoiced at his safety, acknowledging Randy’s quick and compassionate response.
The entire rescue was captured on video, assisting in the efforts to locate the dog’s rightful owner.
Sweet Reunion
Following a thorough checkup and care at the facility, the team at Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared the dog’s rescue story online, hoping to connect with his potential owners.
“Please share, as he is an old fellow without a microchip,” SRSL said.
Just one day later—a miracle unfolded!
It turned out that the dog had gone missing, leaving his family deeply concerned. The dog’s owner recognized his beloved pet in the rescue story featured on Fox2Now and promptly contacted the rescue.
“His dad saw him on the Fox2Now story and came to pick him up today! He mentioned they had been crying and extremely worried… Here they are, reunited,” shared the SRSL team on Facebook.
Witnessing their reunion was a moment filled with pure joy and fulfillment. After a harrowing ordeal, both the dog and his dad were finally back together.
We sincerely hope they remain together for good!
