Being a dog rescuer is a noble vocation that demands immense strength and patience. It’s certainly not for everyone, and personally, I recognize that I lack the resilience and patience required for such responsibilities, despite my deep love for our furry friends.
If only everyone shared this understanding, the world might be a kinder place. Unfortunately, many shelters prioritize profit, neglecting the true needs of the animals. They often take in dogs only to let them languish in poor conditions.
Rescuers Were Stunned

When Saving Gizmo’s Friends received alerts about a ‘fake’ rescue operation in California where dogs were being neglected, founder Cassandra Mann took action. Concerned for the welfare of those animals, she contacted animal control to investigate.
Upon arrival, animal control discovered numerous dogs at the location. However, these dogs did not initially appear to be abused, leaving the officers somewhat puzzled.

Following Mann’s advice, the officers checked the garage, and what they found was horrifying. The stench inside was overwhelming, and the dogs were clearly malnourished and neglected, crammed into a dark space.
Some of the dogs had visible wounds, with one attempting to chew his way out of a cage, leading to serious injuries.
There Is Still Work To Do

The conditions the dogs faced were tragic. It’s heart-wrenching to think about the suffering they endured, all while yearning for a better life. Sadly, the very individuals who were supposed to help them caused this misery.
Recognizing the dire need for assistance, Saving Gizmo’s Friends stepped in and rescued about 23 dogs, providing the necessary medical care which totaled approximately $50,000, all covered by the rescuers.

Despite this significant achievement, the work isn’t over. About 17 dogs remained trapped, and animal control faced challenges in rescuing them without proper warrants. Nevertheless, the devoted rescuers from Saving Gizmo’s Friends are determined to save every last one.
For the dogs that have been rescued, the immediate goal is to help them heal before finding them loving homes, and I have every confidence that they will succeed in their mission.
