On that fateful morning at work, Kristin Erwin had no idea a remarkable visitor awaited her.
She was in the middle of her routine when a large dog caught her attention, looking through her office door with his tail wagging. Without hesitation, she swung the door open.
Her heart melted at the sight of the frightened Mastiff with his soulful eyes, seemingly in search of assistance. Though clearly anxious, the dog was remarkably friendly.
Seeking a New Home for Him

She and her colleagues captured his image and shared it on Lost and Found pages, hoping to reunite him with his owner.
When they returned to work the following day, the dog emerged from beneath one of their work trailers. He greeted them with a big smile and a happily wagging tail.
Though Erwin and her team sought fosters for him, they were unable to find anyone. The pup spent his time lounging around in the large barrels on-site.
As the weekend approached, Erwin couldn’t bear the thought of leaving him alone. She made the decision to bring him home.
The Mastiff, affectionately named Hoss, was ecstatic at the prospect of going home with Erwin. The joyful pup couldn’t contain his grin. He felt immense relief at being rescued from the streets.
Welcoming Hoss to His New Home

Upon arriving at her home, Hoss hesitated at the threshold, apprehensive to take his first step inside.
Erwin quickly understood that he was unfamiliar with being a house dog. The tiled floors intimidated him. As a seasoned foster, she recognized that Hoss needed time to adjust.
A week later, Hoss was finally ready to meet Erwin’s two dogs, marking the beginning of a significant transformation. The other dogs guided Hoss in learning how to navigate life as a house dog. Erwin was delighted to witness his blossoming personality.

“Whenever we used our dogs to entice him into the backyard, he would follow them. The moment he stepped onto the grass, he was dashing and playing.”
Hoss relished resting on the couch, savoring this new experience for what felt like the first time ever. It was one of those small joys he had never known before.
Eventually, he discovered the joys of a cozy bed, and that delighted him even more. He wanted to lounge there all day long.
Hoss thrived in his foster family’s care, showing profound gratitude for the affection they offered him. He loved snuggling up with them and showering them with kisses. His foster family was thrilled to see him so at ease.
Discovering Happiness in His Forever Home

Hoss spent a month in Erwin’s home in Texas before being taken in by the Bullmastiff Rescuers. While saying goodbye was emotional for Erwin, she remained hopeful that Hoss would soon find his forever home.
He transitioned to another foster family and, shortly after, the rescue found him a wonderful family in New Jersey. The pup embarked on a new adventure filled with love and happiness.
Hoss’ new parents kept Erwin updated, and she felt a wave of joy knowing that the charming Mastiff was experiencing the bliss he had been searching for.

Erwin felt immense pride for Hoss, as he played a crucial role in helping his new dog sister, Sammy, navigate through her anxiety. Hoss became the protective brother she needed. The two enjoyed sweet moments together, often napping closely.
“Hoss was the lively and playful one, helping their other Bullmastiff come out of her shell. Initially, he was the timid one, but ultimately, he became the one guiding others on how to be a dog,” remarked Erwin.
Hoss is now living the dream, sharing joyful moments at the lake house and frolicking in the snow with Sammy.
