Whenever I encounter an abandoned dog on the street, a troubling question arises: “What could lead an owner to such a cruel decision?” While I understand that some individuals may lack the resources to care for their pets, it is hard to fathom that abandoning them from a car is the only option. Sadly, this was the case for an Australian Shepherd mix in Denver, Colorado, recorded by a surveillance camera, shocking the local community.
It Was Hard To Watch
Rane Jaresh, a photographer from Colorado, noticed a dog nervously pacing in front of his house. Initially frightened, the dog ran away as Rane approached. However, he was determined to help and went inside to fetch treats to befriend the pup.
“I heard some neighbors outside saying that there was a loose dog. I tried to approach him, he definitely did not let me. I went inside, grabbed some water, grabbed some treats,” Rane explained to FOX31 Denver.
At that moment, Rane remained unaware of the dog’s tragic circumstances; he thought it might be lost or abandoned until he reviewed his home’s surveillance footage. What he uncovered next was truly shocking: a video showing his owner callously abandoning the sweet dog, later named Emry, by removing it from the car and driving away. Emry desperately chased after the vehicle, left confused and heartbroken. “It’s a pretty disgusting video to watch someone drop such a beautiful dog out of a car,” Rane commented.
New Beginning
Fortunately, Rane had a positive outcome to this bleak situation. The place where Emry was left could not have been better, as Rane had previously rescued another Australian Shepherd mix, Bear, from a similar fate. Now, he has opened his heart to Emry, and the three have embarked on several memorable adventures, from hiking to camping. When reflecting on Emry’s arrival, Rane said, “I kind of like it for him. He has another adventure buddy for all the hiking and camping that I plan on doing.”
Despite being scanned for a microchip and finding none, Emry is quickly adjusting to his new surroundings, forming a bond with Bear as they play, chase each other, and embark on countless adventures, transforming this heartbreaking story into one of hope and resilience. Rane is just thrilled to have another furry friend in his life, hoping for a long-lasting companionship ahead!
