Cold Kansas Pup Lying on a Tiny Blanket Experiences an Incredible Turn of Events

Date:

Clydis had it all: a warm home, a loving family, and delicious treats waiting for him when he proved to be a good boi. But, in an instant, everything changed.

Instead of snuggling up with his owners, Clydis, a Pittie mix, found himself in a Kansas park during the harsh winter after getting lost. Struggling with below-freezing temperatures, his short coat offered little protection.

Fortunately, a kind passerby noticed his plight and took immediate action. Joni, observing Clydis roaming a Wichita park, contacted Wichita Animal Action League.

He Didn’t Trust Anyone

Tess Goodman from the rescue team was the first to respond. Upon their arrival, they found Clydis shivering on a small blue blanket left for him in the park. Despite his attempts to stay warm, he was struggling in such frigid conditions.

Tess made several attempts to approach him, but Clydis was too scared and ran deeper into the woods whenever he heard her voice. Realizing she needed to adapt her strategy, Tess set up a large dog house nearby and filled it with food and water. Eventually, the hungry Clydis ventured inside to eat.

This back-and-forth went on for a couple of days until Tess finally made contact. She decided to sit by his blanket for as long as necessary, avoiding any sudden movements to keep him calm. Her patience paid off; with treats in hand and a gentle demeanor, Clydis eventually established contact with his rescuer.

After some growling and a few attempts to escape, Tess managed to secure Clydis and loaded him into her car, feeling relieved he would not have to endure another night in the freezing weather.

Finally, He’s Safe

The moment Clydis was in the car, he warmed up to Tess and her colleague, resting his head against them and showering them with affectionate kisses as if he understood his troubles were over. Aside from some dehydration, his overall condition was great, and his microchip made it easy for the rescuers to find his family.

“Clydis was microchipped, which not only made it easy to find his owners but also prevented him from having to go to the shelter,” WAAL shared on Facebook.

It turned out Clydis had escaped while his family was moving to a new home. His little adventure took him far away from safety, without food, water, or shelter.

Now, he’s finally safe at home.

“Clydis was returned to a grateful family who had been moving out of an apartment to a new house when Clydis escaped,” the Kansas rescue stated.

His family expressed immense gratitude for his safe return, welcoming him back with open arms and hoping for no more escapes in the future.

Good luck, Clydis! Welcome home!
