Chihuahua Rescued in California Uncovers Heartbreaking Secret Through X-Ray

Date:

Sometimes, during a rescue mission aimed at saving one dog, you might find yourself helping another needy furball instead. This exact scenario unfolded for California rescuers when they came across Prince, a tiny Chihuahua mix. He was alone, limping, and struggling on the shoulder of a desert road, visibly pleading for help with a defeated posture and sorrowful eyes.

He Was In Far Worse Condition Than They Thought

The diligent team from The Animal Rescue Center Of California was on a mission to find a stray German Shepherd in Thermal, but that pup was nowhere to be seen. “We were looking for a stray German Shepherd in Thermal who was nowhere to be found,” the rescue shared in their video. Instead, they stumbled upon Prince, who weighed no more than twelve pounds and appeared utterly defeated, thin, scared, and malnourished.

The team offered him food and showered him with affection, soon realizing that Prince was not merely wandering the road but actively seeking help. He was in significant pain, and his leg was in a terrible condition. Following his rescue, they rushed him to the animal hospital for evaluation, where an alarming discovery was made—his injury was more severe than anticipated.

Prince’s X-rays revealed a broken femur. “He was limping from a broken femur. He was in pain and needed surgery,” the Center reported.

His condition was critical and required immediate surgery—this was Prince’s one opportunity for a brighter future. The procedure was successful, and the veterinary team decided to keep him in the hospital for physical therapy. Fortunately, after two weeks of recovery, he was declared ready to embark on his “gradual adaptation” to a normal life, returning to his rescuers.

Prince Hopes To Be ‘The Prince Of His New Home’

Despite not being fully recovered yet, this resilient boy has already captured hearts with his undeniable cuteness. Prince is a happy-go-lucky Chi mix who relishes daily walks and outings with his furry friends. His favorite moments include getting belly rubs!

As a dog who once roamed the streets without social skills, he has quickly proven to be quite the social butterfly, not exhibiting any signs of anti-social behavior.

Prince will be staying with his caregivers until his forever home is found. He aspires to crown himself ‘the prince of his new home’ and showcase his true personality. He undoubtedly deserves all the love and joy a family can offer!
