If there’s one thing dogs excel at, it’s capturing our hearts in the most charming ways. Sometimes, their happy smiles alone can elevate anyone’s mood. I experienced this every time I saw my dog, creating treasured memories. This little stray pup had a similar gift. Despite not having a home, she chose to nap in a yard, hoping the owners would notice her. Fortunately, her hopes were about to be fulfilled.
Aly Was Completely Surprised
As Aly Mac prepared to take her dogs for a walk, she noticed something unusual in her yard. Upon closer inspection, she discovered a sweet stray dog sleeping there, and she looked incredibly adorable. Being a volunteer for Love Leo Rescue in California, Aly was determined to help the pup. She shared with The Dodo, “I wasn’t sure if she was even alive because I kept speaking to her and she wasn’t budging. But then she finally started to open her eyes. I could tell she was very tired and weak and depleted.”
Realizing the walk would have to wait, Aly took her dogs inside and brought food and water for the stray pup. She tried to lure her with food, and the pup devoured it quickly, allowing Aly to put a leash on her successfully. After leading the stray into her house and examining her, Aly discovered multiple scars on her. It was assumed that the dog might have been used for breeding and abandoned afterward, a likely scenario.
Coconut Is Very Popular
She was taken to the vet for a checkup and to check for a microchip, which turned out negative. However, she had parasites, fleas, and tapeworm, necessitating treatment. Mac explained, “Once I got her home, I gave her a luxurious flea bath. She wasn’t thrilled about it, but after a while, she handled it, and I’m sure it was the best sleep she’d had in a long time.” Though she grew attached to the pup, she realized she couldn’t keep her and sought assistance from local rescuers. They successfully found a foster home for the dog, who was named Coconut. Mac was overjoyed, and the rescuers shared her story online, where it gained significant attention.
Adoption requests for Coconut began to flood in, as the rescuers aimed to find her the perfect home. Eventually, that moment arrived, and Coconut found her forever home, where she is blissfully happy with her new family. Sasha Abelson, founder of Love Leo Rescue, noted, “It didn’t take long because she received so much interest. The video really propelled her into her forever home.” It’s heartening to see so many people willing to help this dog.
