When teacher Rebecca found Olivia and Sherlock searching for food in Central California, she instantly felt compelled to assist. While Olivia was shy and hesitant to allow Rebecca to touch her, Sherlock was friendly, quickly building trust with the kind woman. Suspecting that the pair had hidden puppies nearby, Rebecca devised a plan to uncover their secret and ensure their safety.
Learning The Puppies’ Location

After placing a GPS tracker on Sherlock, Rebecca soon located where the duo had been keeping their eight puppies. She contacted Hope For Paws in Los Angeles for assistance, mentioning that Sherlock needed medication for his injured leg as he had been hit by a car. Eldad and his team promptly set out to help.
Arriving at the site after a four-hour drive, it was already dark when Eldad handed over the medication for Sherlock. To avoid alarming the dog family, they decided to conduct the rescue the following day. The next morning, Rebecca and the rescue team returned to the hiding place, ready to act.
Eldad began by feeding Olivia and Sherlock to win their trust, but the puppies appeared wary and maintained their distance.
Capturing The Dogs

The team constructed a large enclosure and coaxed Olivia and Sherlock inside. They placed a crate in the enclosure, starting to feed the dogs and speak softly to them, gradually cornering the pair with a net.

Realizing she was being trapped, Olivia became anxious and tried to escape. However, the team successfully slipped a leash around her neck and placed her in the crate. Once Olivia and Sherlock were safe, the rescuers shifted their focus to the puppies, who had never encountered humans and were terrified. Eventually, they managed to capture one brave puppy who came forward.

The other puppies, feeling frightened, remained hidden in their den. The rescue team brought Olivia closer to her pups, hoping her presence would encourage them to come out. When the puppies saw their mother, they yearned to be with her and began to approach.

With the team’s dedication, all but one puppy were captured as the last pup fled to the den, paralyzed with fear. Fortunately, they soon found him crying for his mother. They scooped him up and placed him in the vehicle with the rest of the family.
Doggy Family Is Finally Safe

The rescue team transported the family to the vet for treatment, providing them with food and gentle baths. Given their agricultural upbringing, they were named Strawberry, Cherry, Kiwi, Clementine, Peaches, Mango, Lemon, and Banana. Following an X-ray, it was revealed that Sherlock had a dislocated hip, requiring surgery. Three days post-rescue, Olivia and her pups felt at ease, enjoying playtime with their caregivers and toys.

Before his surgery, Sherlock visited Olivia and the kids, reuniting the happy doggy family. LA Animal Rescue graciously agreed to foster the entire family, and I am confident that Olivia, Sherlock, and their little ones will soon find caring forever homes that love them immensely.
