Daniela, a California resident and dog rescuer, was enjoying a soothing evening at home when peculiar sounds outside piqued her curiosity. Upon stepping outside, she encountered a little furry surprise waiting by her gate—a shy young pup gazing up at her with pleading eyes. Despite her trepidation, the dog mustered the courage to reach out for help, knowing Daniela was her only hope.
The Pup Finds Safety
As Daniela gently stroked the pup, Bitsy sensed she was in the right place. Daniela showed her kindness by offering some kibble, which made Bitsy wag her tail in delight. Taking her inside, Daniela provided more food and water, and after a satisfying meal, she bathed her. Noticing the collar around her neck and the dirt covering her fur, Daniela suspected that Bitsy had been abandoned and had likely been an outdoor dog, as evidenced by the motor oil and vegetation clinging to her.
Once clean, Bitsy expressed her gratitude with affectionate kisses, her eyes radiating love and appreciation for her newfound hero. Though still timid, bits of her past traumas seemed to melt away as she began to realize that kind humans do indeed exist. Surrounded by love, she started to decompress and adjust to her new, safe environment. Eventually, Bitsy became more relaxed, playfully zooming around and enjoying her new toys.
Fortunately, Daniela didn’t stop at only welcoming Bitsy into her home. Knowing that Daniela’s own dog was not welcoming to Bitsy, she sought help from 4 Paws Kiddo Rescue in Los Angeles, California. They assured her that they would take Bitsy into their care. Once at the vet, a surprise awaited them: Bitsy was pregnant. The pup quickly moved in with Sarah, a wonderful foster who was ready to help her through the journey of motherhood.
Though it was difficult for Daniela to say goodbye to sweet Bitsy, she found peace in knowing that the dog would be well cared for. Bitsy now feels happy and relieved, no longer alone, eagerly awaiting the arrival of her puppies and dreaming of finding a loving family to adopt her and her future little ones. I have no doubt that Bitsy and her puppies will discover amazing forever homes.
