There’s no such thing as a broken dog; it always hinges on their circumstances, the treatment they receive, and the love and effort invested in their upbringing. Unfortunately, some owners don’t share this sentiment, giving up too soon and allowing their beloved pets to suffer a tragic fate.
Godric and Sadie recently experienced this heartbreak. Both were surrendered by their owners, who shockingly requested the shelter to euthanize them. Godric, a three-year-old Chocolate Lab, was deemed a problem after he bit a baby. However, the shelter soon discovered that he had never displayed any aggression upon his arrival.
Godric’s Backstory

Hearts For Paws, based in Davis, California, highlighted this heartbreaking situation on their social media. A family brought Godric to Solano County Animal Care, requesting euthanasia due to an incident where Godric allegedly bit their baby. The shelter found this story odd since he had not shown any aggression since his arrival, being sweet and well-behaved around people.
Despite acknowledging the incident, the shelter could not understand the family’s request for euthanasia instead of rehoming Godric. Fortunately, they chose to save him, leading to another surprising revelation.
Another Heartbreaking Surprise

One day, while outside, Godric had a heartwarming encounter with another dog. The two joyfully greeted each other, and it turned out to be Sadie, a six-year-old Plott Hound who had also been surrendered by the same family just a month earlier due to similar behavior, where they claimed she had growled at their baby.

After spending some joyful time together, Godric was happily adopted into a new family. Sadly, Sadie remained behind, now one of the oldest residents in the shelter, often overlooked by potential adopters despite her wonderful demeanor and traits.
“She is a great dog & there is no reason she can’t be adopted! More on her: Sadie is a 6-7 year Plott hound, spayed, good with dogs and people,” HFP shared on social media.

Despite being overlooked, Sadie remains hopeful, recently transferred to Miranda’s Rescue in Fortuna, California, as she awaits her new beginning. After everything she has endured, Sadie certainly deserves a family that will love and cherish her.
Here’s hoping that her chance comes soon!
