From the moment shelter dogs move into their tiny kennels, they begin dreaming of the love they crave. Steven Tyler, a Pit Bull Terrier, started believing in his greatest dream after a Good Samaritan found him wandering near a high school and sought help.
Although he felt shy and unsure upon arriving at Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento, California, he quickly won over the shelter staff and became their beloved pup, filled with hope of meeting a family who would truly cherish him.
Longing For Love

Steven Tyler spent countless hours gazing out his kennel window, resting his chin on the sill, with longing eyes, hoping someone would notice him. Sadly, despite the days and months that went by, no one adopted him. Yet, his spirits remained high; he still believed in his dream of finding a loving family.
While he waited, Steven bonded with his kennel mate, Helga Hufflepup, sharing cuddles and warmth, much to the delight of the shelter staff who were puzzled as to why such a loving dog was overlooked.

A video capturing Steven’s patient wait by the window was shared on social media by the shelter staff, aiming to raise awareness of his situation. They hoped that if more people saw Steven Tyler’s endearing self, someone would fall in love with him as they had.
“…We thought if we could show more people what we were seeing, someone would fall in love with him the way we had,” Luna Anona, the public information officer for Sacramento County Animal Care Services/Bradshaw Animal Shelter told PEOPLE.
The video captured the hearts of many, creating a wave of support for Steven Tyler’s adoption.
The Dog’s Greatest Wish Comes True

On the same day the video was shared, a wonderful family stumbled across the post and fell in love with Steven Tyler. When they arrived at the shelter to meet him, his face lit up—a sign that he recognized that the humans he longed for had finally come.
After bidding farewell to the caring shelter staff, he left with a joyous smile, beginning a new chapter in his life. The online attention also led to another adoption, with a kind woman opting to adopt Helga Hufflepup, who had been left without a home before Steven found his forever family.
Now living in his new home, Steven, now called Donner, has quickly bonded with his little human siblings as well as his furry sisters, Daisy and Tahoe. He loves to snuggle with them, basking in the love of his new family.

His family feels immensely happy to have him in their lives. “He’s a gem. He got along with our dog instantly, and he is SO good with our kids. He’s sweet and loving; it feels like he’s been here forever. He fits our family perfectly,” shared the family in a Facebook post.

The adorable doggo, now renamed Donner, enjoys a fulfilling life with his loving family. He and his furry sisters frequently share charming and heartwarming moments from their daily adventures on their Instagram account.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the Sacramento shelter for aiding in the realization of the pup’s greatest dream and to his newfound family for giving him the beautiful fairytale he so richly deserved.
