Meet Jackson, the tiniest and most adorable puppy you’ll ever meet. Found abandoned in a box on the streets of San Jose, California, he was alone and too young to fend for himself. His remarkable journey is one of resilience, love, and newfound courage as he overcame immense challenges in a world that has embraced him warmly.
This beautiful puppy, with the cutest face imaginable, likely wouldn’t have survived without the swift actions of those who discovered him.
Little, But Fierce
“He could fit in the palm of your hand. He was less than a pound,” shared Ashley Kotkin, Jackson’s dedicated foster mom. When Ashley’s friends reached out about the tiny puppy found abandoned, she, being an animal lover and rescuer, couldn’t turn away.
When Jackson arrived, he was covered in flea dirt, urine scaled, and extremely pale. Likely around three weeks old, feeding him proved to be a challenge. “I spent a lot of time with him making sure that he was eating enough,” Ashley recalled to The Dodo.
However, Ashley soon realized that something was amiss and took Jackson to the vet. Thankfully, a foster-based rescue called Every Pet’s Dream from Santa Clara quickly agreed to sponsor him.
At the clinic, they found that his blood levels were alarmingly low and he was severely anemic, requiring two blood transfusions alongside other necessary veterinary care. The vet techs also determined that he was effectively blind and had some hearing impairment. Luckily, after spending a few days at the veterinary hospital and receiving the right medications, Jackson began to recuperate, gain weight, and regain his energy.
Jackson is indeed a fighter with a delightful spirit.
Jackson Growlaxy
As Jackson’s condition steadily improved, his unique personality began to shine. “We’re helping him adapt to his surroundings. Because of the challenges he has, his other senses are definitely heightened,” Ashley noted. He even learned to growl, which earned him an adorable nickname: Jackson Growlaxy.
“He’s not just loved, but given everything he needs to grow up big and strong and lead a happy life,” Ashley emphasized. Thanks to her immense love and dedication, Jackson blossomed into a beautiful, healthy boy.
Jackson faced a challenging puppyhood and defied the odds at just three weeks old, ultimately proving everyone wrong. Now known as Bou, he is thriving in his forever home.
