When Peanut Butter and Jelly were rescued from the streets and brought to Sonoma County Animal Services in California, they captured a lot of attention. Upon arrival, the shelter staff noticed something shiny on their foreheads. Upon closer inspection, they were shocked to discover that the dogs had jewelry glued to their skin—a first for many of the experienced staff members.
The Adorable Duo Finds A Home
Peanut Butter is a Beagle and Pug mix, while Jelly is a female Chihuahua mix. The veterinary team quickly decided that the jewels and glue must be removed to ensure the dogs’ health, which thankfully remained intact despite some secondary burns that left scars on their foreheads. Other than this, both pups were in good health and eager to find their forever home.
Eventually, a loving family adopted them, but after the owner passed away, Peanut Butter and Jelly found themselves without a caretaker once more.
At The Shelter Once Again
They were returned to Sonoma County Animal Services but were soon transferred to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, an organization dedicated to helping senior dogs find their forever homes. Their foster mom, Lisa Arden, showered them with love and care.
“They are very sweet and friendly dogs who are great around people and get along well with other dogs. They continue to blossom in foster care, showing their silly personalities.” Arden shared with The Dodo.
Despite their personalities, Arden funnily noted that Jelly acted as the boss of Peanut Butter.
A Forever Home
Despite being in foster care for three months without any adoption applications, Arden created and shared a TikTok video highlighting their adorable personalities to attract adopters, and it quickly went viral. On October 26th, 2023, Arden announced exciting news on her Instagram: Peanut Butter and Jelly had a virtual meet-and-greet with their new dad, and they had a fantastic time!
Arden expressed confidence that the pups had found the perfect home and looked forward to their adoption being finalized, as they prepared to start a new adventure with their new dad.
