One such tale unfolds in California, where a tiny, one-year-old named Reese found herself in dire straits—skin and bones, neglected, and only days away from euthanasia in a crowded shelter.
Saved At The Last Moment
Arriving at the shelter, Reese shut down completely; her fear evident as she sought kindness from those around her. Fortunately, the compassionate team at Wags and Walks Rescue from Los Angeles stepped in just in time. They rescued her from the overcrowded shelter, which lacked both the resources and the care needed for her numerous medical issues.
Despite her young age of one, Reese appeared much older due to the extreme neglect she suffered, which included advanced mange that left open wounds on her body, as well as an infected puncture in her eye and severe emaciation. Her rescuers expressed their heartbreak, as it seemed Reese had never known tenderness from humans.
“At just 1-year-old Reese has suffered unthinkable neglect. She is skin and bones, has painful, advanced mange and infections,” W&W shared on Instagram.
Determined to change her fate, the team swiftly found an ideal foster home for Reese.
Now, She Wears The Coolest PJ’s
Welcomed into the home of Walker and Rebecca, Reese quickly started her healing journey, thanks to a generous community that funded her recovery. In no time, she was gaining weight and making swift progress towards a complete recovery. “She is safe with us now, healing quickly, and we’re thankful for this incredible community’s support,” the rescue reported on Instagram.
Reese’s transformation was remarkable. She emerged from her shell and became an unexpected fashionista, captivating everyone with her stylish PJ’s. Initially part of her recovery to protect her skin, Reese quickly turned heads with her chic appearance. Rebecca and Walker ensured she had a plethora of fashionable outfits, spoiling her with outfits for every occasion—though they jokingly doubt she’ll ever need to shop for herself again.
Beyond the fashion, Reese developed into the family’s most cherished cuddler, often curling up in laps and relishing the affection she had long missed.
The Sweetest Update
Just a few months after finding her caregivers, Reese received the most wonderful gift—a forever family! An amazing family reached out to W&W, eager to provide this girl with a loving home.
The rescue shared the joyous news on their Instagram, writing, “Tonight she’s in her forever home with an amazing, loving family who loves her as much as she deserves to be.”
