Upon rescuing her, the team from Roadogs Southern California Dog Rescue was shocked by her condition. She couldn’t accept losing her puppies and was extremely cautious around others. Recognizing her needs, the rescuers decided to take her to a foster home where she could experience safety and learn to relax.
Kelly Sayer stepped in to foster the terrified pup, named Santine, hoping to help her regain trust. Initially, Santine was scared and growled at anyone who approached her, which was heartbreaking for Kelly, who could only imagine the trauma she had endured.

However, her breakthrough came when Kelly’s son, Landon, formed a bond with her. Santine took a liking to him, leading to a blossoming friendship that eased her fears, allowing her to embrace love and care.
As she began to trust more, Santine’s demeanor brightened significantly. She became playful and friendly with Kelly’s family, including other pets, signaling a positive change.
