Many dogs face challenges daily for various reasons, yet stereotypes often exacerbate their suffering. The assumption that Pit Bulls are unadoptable or that older dogs hold no value usually leads to heartbreaking circumstances. Such was the case with a senior dog in Los Angeles, California, who felt the impact of these stereotypes when potential adopters overlooked him, believing he was “damaged goods.”
His Sad Fate

According to a Facebook post by Philozoia, an animal welfare organization in Los Angeles, a senior dog named Eeyore was rescued from a euthanasia shelter. They praised him, stating:
“He is crate and house trained, kid-friendly, and would make a great family dog. Eeyore loves attention and naps, and he also has a playful side. He loves toys and takes his stuffed animal with him everywhere,” they wrote.
While they hoped Eeyore would quickly find a forever home, reality proved challenging. They struggled to find him a suitable foster home for quite some time.

That changed when a young woman named Harshey learned about Eeyore’s plight; she felt compelled to become his foster mom. From her home, Eeyore’s story began to resonate far and wide. After spending time with Harshey, she decided to share a video on her TikTok profile about his unfortunate circumstances.
@njyslve Fostering is always hard, but this one is going to hit different. A senior dog with severe scarring and asthma is seen as damaged goods for most adopters. But Eeyore has been nothing but brave and kind since I picked him up tonight. Please consider Eeyore. He is available through Philozoia rescue in SoCal. #adoptdontshop #adoptresponsibly #rescue #animalsoftiktok #dogsoftiktok #animalshelter #fostercare #fosterdog #dontbullymybreed❤ #mastiff #bullybreeds #animalrescue #applevalley ♬ original sound – NOFEELINGS.

The video reveals Eeyore’s unfortunate condition, including significant scars on his body. Harshey noted that she wouldn’t have suspected his past abuse had it not been for his flinching when she pet him.

In that moment, it became clear that Eeyore was not merely a senior dog but also a victim of more grievous circumstances. “I can’t help but fear that no one will ever come for him,” Harshey expresses at the end.
Broken Hearts

Although this video evokes sadness, it’s heartening to see Eeyore’s story touched countless hearts, eliciting numerous reactions. “It’s unbelievable the pain and horror that humans inflict on these babies. Thank you for loving him — he deserves only the best 🙏❤️,” one user commented.
Another noted, “Sweet handsome Eeyore🥺 I’m hoping with everything you find your happily ever after that you deserve❤️❤️🙏,” while someone even asked Harshey why she doesn’t adopt him. She replied, “Keeping him means more dogs that continue to not have a foster and are then at risk for euthanasia.” In doing so, Harshey emphasized that people should open their hearts to dogs like Eeyore, allowing them and many others trapped by similar stereotypes to find their happiness.
We remain hopeful that Eeyore’s journey will inspire positive change, leading him to his well-deserved happy ending.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for Eeyore.
