Rex Gave Up Hope That Someone Would Adopt Him
Three years ago, Rex was rescued from a high-euthanasia shelter by The Vanderpump Dog Foundation in Los Angeles, where he was initially labeled a snappy dog unfit for adoption. His fate seemed dire until Vanderpump Dogs intervened in time to offer him a second chance.
“Dogs with behavioral issues are at higher risk of being euthanized in shelters, and we got Rex just in time,” they shared on Facebook.
Rex gradually overcame his past traumas, learning to trust people again and socialize with other dogs thanks to his dedicated trainers. However, after spending over a thousand days in the shelter, he began to lose hope once more, retreating back to his old ways of isolation.
Nima Nasseri, a Hollywood agent and dog lover, created a TikTok account to give a voice to overlooked shelter dogs. He showcased Rex’s heartbreaking decline in a video that resonated with viewers.
“Rex no longer comes over to greet people because nobody ever chooses him. He’s been here for over 1000 days. It’s been so long that the hair on his face is starting to turn grey,” the video states.
In just a few days, the video reached hundreds of thousands, shining a light on Rex’s plight and reigniting his hope.
The Long-Awaited Miracle
Nasseri was amazed by the response; he posted the video on Sunday, and by Friday, Rex had multiple applications for adoption. He found his perfect forever home!
“We posted him on Sunday, and by Friday, he was all wrapped up in a blanket on his new couch with his new mama,” Nasseri proudly announced in an update post!
The update video by Nasseri captures Rex in a tiny kennel in the back of a car, finally on his way to the home he deserved all along.
Once a dog without hope, Rex now has a family that loves him, all thanks to those who believed in him!
