The life of a stray dog can change in mere moments, requiring only a kind heart to recognize the opportunity. Whether through food, shelter, or a simple kind gesture, these actions leave substantial, lasting impacts on dogs in need.
Scott and Halley, a couple from California, truly understood this. Thus, when the chance to rescue a stray pup arose, they acted without hesitation.
His Past Was A Mystery
One day, while cycling through a remote forest, Scott noticed a strange creature approaching. Curious, he stopped for a closer look, only to discover a black dog running away from him.
With roads closed that day, Scott and Halley returned the following day to search for the elusive pup. “He turned around to help, but the pup had run away, and we couldn’t drive there,” Halley mentioned on Instagram.
While searching nearby, they spotted nervous movements in some bushes, where Halley recognized the fearful eyes of the dog peeking out, still hesitant to come forward.
After spending some time gently reassuring the dog, they ultimately resorted to using delicious treats to coax him out. Minutes later, the pup finally emerged!
This sweet and gentle soul, with captivating eyes, quickly endeared himself to Halley and Scott, wrapping around their legs as if to say he needed help. Fortunately, he no longer needed to plead—he was saved, even if he didn’t fully understand it yet!
He Stays In The Family
Once back at their home, the dog adapted immediately, grateful to snuggle into a comfy bed and experience the joy of freedom and a steady supply of food.
Initially uncertain about their new furry family member, Halley recalled that her in-laws in Colorado had been looking to adopt, making this an ideal match.
After coordinating via Zoom, Halley’s family eagerly awaited the dog’s arrival. Though it took a 15-hour drive from California to Colorado, it was a journey well worth taking!
His new family was ecstatic to see him!
“When they saw him, they were so excited, especially his mom. His parents decided to name him Bonez. He warmed up to them pretty quickly,” Halley shared with The Dodo.
Today, Bonez leads a happy life with a spacious yard to explore, loving humans around him, and countless adventures awaiting. Better yet, he remains within the family, allowing Scott, Halley, and their dog, Patches, to visit him anytime.
Once a stray boy lost in a forest, Bonez now enjoys all he ever dreamed of, thanks to the kindness of a compassionate couple.
