California Couple’s DNA Test for Their Foster Dog Reveals an Unexpected Surprise

Date:

Sometimes, when I look at my rescue dog, I wonder about his past — where he was born, whether he had siblings, and what his joyful moments were before joining my family. While I have countless questions, I’ve accepted that I’ll never know the answers and choose to believe he had a wonderful childhood.

However, one family discovered a remarkable piece of their dog’s past that inspired me to share their heartwarming story with you today.

A Heartwarming Rescue

During a visit to their local shelter in Silicon Valley, two ardent rescuers noticed a pup that resembled their cherished dog at home. Feeling a strong connection and recognizing that she struggled to relax in the noisy shelter environment, they decided to foster her. Upon bringing her home, they quickly realized that the pup, named Zoey, needed time to trust them.

“She was so terrified of people. She wouldn’t even come out of her kennel at first, wouldn’t let us put a leash on her, and we could only pet her if she was in her kennel,” the rescuers recalled in an Instagram video.

Meanwhile, their other dog, Jazz, was eager to meet Zoey, but her overwhelming stress prevented her from getting close. Thus, the rescuers opted to keep the two apart until Zoey felt secure. What warmed their hearts was seeing the two pups greet each other through the glass door.

Nothing But Love

As time went on, Zoey gradually eased her fears and began to trust her foster parents. After two weeks, they decided it was time for Zoey and Jazz to meet. To their delight, the two instantly bonded, running through the garden and enjoying playful afternoons together, which helped Zoey open up to her humans.

Three weeks later, the couple decided to adopt Zoey, making her a cherished member of their family, but that wasn’t the best part! Curious about their striking similarities, the couple conducted a DNA test on Zoey and Jazz, only to be astonished when they discovered that they were actually sisters.

“We found them 2.5 years apart at two separate shelters over 30 miles away from each other. They were always meant to be together,” they shared.

Now, as they say, the rest is history.

The two sisters are inseparable, enjoying every day filled with delightful adventures, cozy cuddles, and delicious meals together. After all, they have so much to catch up on!
