There are truly remarkable dogs whose tales inspire us all, and Mr. Snuffulufugus (or Snuffy for short) certainly belongs in that category.
Roaming the streets of Copperas Cove, Texas, as a homeless dog, Snuffy’s journey has been fraught with hardships. He was deeply yearning for a person to offer him compassion.
One day, an incredibly kind individual reached out to animal control, who promptly came to rescue him from the streets. What followed next altered Snuffy’s destiny forever.
From Texas To Minnesota
Upon Snuffy’s rescue by Copperas Cove Animal Control, they discovered he had numerous challenges beyond their initial assessment. This darling American Bully mix tested heartworm positive, necessitating extensive treatment costing thousands of dollars.
The animal control then reached out to the Minnesota rescue, Pit Squad Rescue MN, which focuses on giving bully breeds a chance at a new life. Without a second thought, the rescue agreed to take Snuffy in straight away.
Upon his arrival at this new (temporary) sanctuary, Snuffy underwent a comprehensive veterinary check-up, initiating his heartworm treatment. Sadly, further health complications were revealed.
“His heart is significantly enlarged and his lungs are severely damaged. The outlook isn’t very promising, but as long as there’s hope, we will continue to fight,” the Pit Squad Rescue MN shared on Facebook.
Struggling with his breathing, limited mobility, and appearing as if he wouldn’t survive, Snuffy proved to be quite the fighter!
Amid all these challenges, he remained an extraordinarily loving dog, reveling in life, and his eyes sparkled with hope!
Once Snuffy settled into his new surroundings, a compassionate woman named Stephanie Easley chose to foster him. The moment she laid eyes on him, she felt an immediate connection!
Snuffy and Stephanie formed a special bond right away. Despite his health struggles and some behavioral issues, he cherished every moment spent with her.
Over the course of several months, they adapted to one another. They diligently worked on improving Snuffy’s health, which was a challenging aspect of their journey. Stephanie dedicated herself to providing around-the-clock care and ensuring he received his treatments properly.
Looking For A New Home
After months of dedicated treatment and a lot of hard work, Snuffy began to feel much better.
Against all odds, he conquered heartworm and made significant improvements under Stephanie’s care, and he was now ready for a forever home.
“His journey has seen its fair share of ups and downs. Hope lost, then revived… only to be lost again. He has overcome everything that came his way, and we are clinging to the last glimmer of hope that someone out there will want to be his forever family,” Stephanie shared on Facebook.
Snuffy is currently continuing his obedience classes and is working hard to refine his dog skills, but he’s making progress.
What Snuffy needs is a loving, understanding family where he can be the sole pet, preferably in a home without young children.
While he is a profoundly affectionate dog, Mr. Snuffulufugus can sometimes exhibit possessiveness towards his adult owner.
One thing is certain – Snuffy delivers incredible hugs and is undoubtedly a wonderful companion! When the moment is right, we are entirely optimistic that he will find his ideal family.
