When life hands you lemons, transform them into lemonade! This guiding principle has been Lara’s approach throughout her life.
Even after losing her sight entirely, her passion for life remained unshaken. She welcomed everything and everyone around her with open paws.
Regrettably, she faced being returned by her adoptive families twice in a brief timespan. Nevertheless, Lara held on to the hope that one day, someone would recognize her true magnificence.
And that someone turned out to be her foster dad!
I Remember You, Dad
Brian and Alex, dedicated fosters for Priceless Pets Rescue, in California, provided a temporary haven for Lara before she started her journey to a forever home. At that time, she was battling a severe infection that led to her losing both eyes.
As a special-needs pup, Lara encountered challenges in adjusting to new surroundings. She was initially timid and reserved, requiring ample time to get comfortable.
Fortunately, it only took a few weeks for her to warm up to her new family, turning into the most affectionate lovebug!
Subsequently, she experienced two failed adoption attempts, leading to Lara being returned to the shelter once more! When Brian learned about her unfortunate situation, he acted without delay.
He and Alex made the decision to offer their sweet foster a permanent home immediately.
“We fostered Lara for a few months. After two failed adoptions, she became a permanent member of the family,” her parents shared on Instagram.
Brian was unsure if his beloved furbaby would recognize him, but the moment he approached her kennel, something magical occurred! Not only did she remember him, but she instantly switched to tail-wagging, cuddly mode within seconds!
“When we went to pick her up after her second adoption, I thought she would remember me, but I was slightly curious. Thankfully, it turned out even better than I expected,” Brian shared with Cuddle Buddies.
She was overjoyed to see a familiar face after an emotionally challenging time. From that day forward, Lara was never away from Brian’s side. She stayed close to her dad and refused to leave him ever again.
The bond between them flourished. While Lara is a sociable dog who loves everyone, her dad is clearly her favorite person in the world.
“She’s truly daddy’s girl and she hasn’t left my side since,” Brian adds.
Living The Best Life
Since her arrival at Brian and Alex’s residence, Lara has been thriving!
Her blindness is no longer a hindrance, as Lara maneuvers through her California home effortlessly. Even the occasional bumps don’t deter her from enjoying indoor fun.
“Many have asked how well Lara gets around the house. To put it simply, she navigates beautifully, with only the occasional bump,” Lara’s owners shared on Instagram.
Additionally, she has made numerous friends in her neighborhood. Lara enjoys walks, spending time with other dogs at the park, and embracing many thrilling adventures with her family.
Every walk with her dad turns her into the most ecstatic, wiggly cuddle bug imaginable.
Today, Lara’s happiness knows no bounds. Despite the heartaches of her past, she is finally living the life she’s always desired, surrounded by a family that adores her without conditions. Above all, she has the perfect dad!
