While Dyesa and her friend were en route to the doctor’s office, they spotted a little puppy in a shopping cart outside a grocery store in Phoenix, Arizona. Rushing over to help, they noticed the adorable pup had a worried expression but seemed relieved to see the kind women. After comforting him and wondering about his owner, they spoke to store employees who mentioned he had likely been outside since 5 a.m. Unfortunately, no one knew anything about his family.
Taking The Pup To A Shelter
Dyesa and her friend felt sad for the sweet pup, later named Herbert, and were determined to help him. They fed Herbert, gave him a jacket for warmth, and after he devoured his meal, they contacted Maricopa County Animal Care & Control to take him under their care.
On November 21st, 2024, Dyesa shared a video of Herbert on her TikTok account, hoping to find his rightful owner. Viewers were moved, upset by the apparent neglect and angered by the thought that someone had abandoned the puppy. However, five days later, Dyesa revealed that Herbert wasn’t abandoned; he had simply run out of his home, and his owner was desperately searching for him.
His owner had called every shelter looking for information about his beloved pup. Unfortunately, since Herbert was on a stray hold for three days, he hadn’t been registered in the shelter system, leading to further confusion. Thankfully, a friend of his owner saw Dyesa’s TikTok video and immediately sent it to him.
The Happy Reunion
Overjoyed that his dog was safe, Herbert’s owner hurried to the Phoenix shelter to reclaim him. On that same day, Dyesa was also at the shelter visiting Herbert and got to witness their emotional reunion. As soon as the pup saw his dad, he jumped with joy, grinning from ear to ear as he looked into his owner’s face.
Ultimately, the pup, whose real name is Roy, returned home. His dad wasn’t the only one who missed him; Roy’s doggy brother had been eagerly awaiting his return. Their joyful reunion was heartfelt and touching. Roy’s owner expressed immense gratitude to Dyesa for her kindness and for sharing his story on TikTok.
