At first glance, kennels might not look too bad, but they can be quite stressful for pets.
The limited space, loud sounds, and lack of their beloved humans can lead to feelings of anxiety and sadness. Sadly, the kennel environment not only impacts the animals’ emotional state but also diminishes their chances of finding forever homes. The longer they remain in the shelter, the more their spirit may fade.
Though the staff tries their hardest to create a welcoming atmosphere for these furry friends, their efforts have limits.
This is why Cassian decided to take charge of his own destiny!

Introducing Cassian – a Boxer mix who entered the Seattle Animal Shelter six weeks ago in hopes of finding a loving family.
Initially, he tried the classic method: charming everyone who walked past his kennel until someone fell in love with him.
Though he is undeniably cute, this plan didn’t unfold as effortlessly as Cassian had anticipated.
So, he opted for a new strategy.
“Cassian is quite anxious in the shelter, but he doesn’t exhibit this well from inside his kennel,” mentioned a shelter volunteer in a video on TikTok.
To express his eagerness, Cassian started jumping at the kennel door, hoping to greet any human who passed by.
This enthusiastic behavior led the staff to cover his kennel door with a blanket to keep him safe.
However, this meant that many visitors would walk by without realizing Cassian was also in search of a permanent home!
A Silver Lining
A clever volunteer at the shelter came up with an incredible idea.
She printed a giant image of Cassian’s face on a blanket and hung it over his kennel so that anyone passing by would instantly see his charming face!
Fortunately, just as their TikTok video gained traction before the blanket arrived, Cassian captured the heart of a wonderful family who decided to foster him.
But rest assured, the blanket will be ready for whoever chooses to give this sweet pup a forever home.
“Cassian is an exuberant and friendly young lad eager for his next adventure. He may be small, but his personality is larger than life,” the shelter shared on Cassian’s adoption page.
