Natalie DePersia and her family, residing in New Jersey, have always dreamed of having a dog. A few years ago, they finally decided to make that dream a reality. They had planned everything ahead of time, but then an unexpected twist occurred – they ended up bringing home the wrong dog.
While on their way back, they realized that this dog looked completely different from the one in the picture they had seen. It was only when they visited the vet that they confirmed they had adopted a completely different breed.
However, it quickly became evident that destiny had other plans, as they all fell head over heels in love with their new Bernese Mountain Dog, whom they named Cash.
At the same time, Cash found his serendipitous moment, landing in a forever home that wasn’t originally intended for him.
A few years later, Cash proved that such an opportunity is cherished, doing something that made his mom burst into tears of laughter.
He Didn’t Get Far
In a TikTok video shared by Natalie on her account, @natmdepersia, which garnered much attention, she can be seen laughing while driving with her brother.
At first glance, it’s unclear what’s causing their amusement. However, the mystery is solved as the camera shows their house’s open door, then zooms in on Cash, who had “run away from home.”
Those last four words are in quotes for a reason, as Cash, even if he tried to escape, didn’t get very far. Instead, he was lounging comfortably in the garden, proving that home is indeed the best place to be.
This sight made his mom giggle so much that she ended up in tears.
“I was absolutely wheezing with laughter because the entire situation took us totally by surprise. My laugh doesn’t usually sound that… unique!” Natalie shared in her interview with Newsweek.
She also expressed her relief at finding him there, noting that if he hadn’t been, “I would have been frantic.”
To show her appreciation for his loyalty and to lift her spirits, Natalie treated Cash to some ice cream.
That good boy definitely earned it.
