One mystery that perplexes me is why some people exploit female dogs for breeding purposes and treat them poorly afterward.
Utilizing dogs solely for breeding is cruel, but neglecting them is even more heinous.
This sweet dog was trapped in a similar situation, being tethered outside and having her ears cropped by her owners.
A Good Samaritan saw her plight and took the initiative to contact a rescue organization to aid the pup.
Introducing Chickpea

Upon entering a shelter in Pennsylvania, Chickpea was discovered to have infections and was in dire need of a bath. The shelter staff worked diligently to care for her.
Their efforts in sharing her story online caught the attention of a loving potential owner who immediately chose to adopt her.
When they first met, Chickpea nestled into her new mom’s arms and dozed off. It was a magical moment.
The shelter informed her new mom that Chickpea might display some quirky behavior, likely due to overbreeding.

To help Chickpea acclimate to her new surroundings, her mom took time off from work.
Initially, Chickpea struggled with stairs, and her mom presumed it was do to her previous life spent outdoors.
The pair quickly formed a bond, cherishing the following days as they learned more about each other.
Chickpea soon recognized that she was safe with her new mom, making the transition to her new life much easier.
An Unexpected Revelation

As time passed, everyone discovered that Chickpea was quite comical and quirky. During her first year in her new home, she hardly barked at all.
This concerned her mom, who only wanted Chickpea to thrive. When she finally did start barking, her mom was caught off guard.
Her bark was amusing and unique, prompting onlookers to give her curious glances whenever she let one out.

Chickpea’s mom was also surprised to see that her tongue often stuck out, something she could only occasionally remedy by gently pushing it back.
The bond between them was incredibly strong. Chickpea adored being cradled like a baby during naptime, a truly heartwarming sight.
Being a dance instructor, Chickpea’s mom took her along to classes, where students would affectionately pet her, much to Chickpea’s delight.
Whenever Chickpea wasn’t in attendance, the students always inquired about her absence.

The rescue organization informed Chickpea’s mom that the dog might appear ‘spacey’, and for good reason.
It was confirmed by the vet that Chickpea was actually blind. While this news may seem unfortunate, it hasn’t impacted her joyful life in any way.
She continues to thrive with the incredible companionship of her loving owner, and it’s heartening to see her happy.
