Rescued from a dreadful fate as a commercial breeding dog, this Poodle was offered a new lease on life.
And she couldn’t be more appreciative!

Clara the Poodle has a distinctive way of expressing her gratitude, showcasing her affection for the fresh start she received.
She’s the kind of Poodle who adores hugs. In fact, she’ll hug you tightly until you embrace her back, reciprocating the affection!
Can I Have A Hug?
Despite the horrific conditions she endured, Clara’s spirit, demeanor, and delightful nature remained intact. Clara was a truly good girl through and through, and there was no other way she could be.
When Havaheart Rescue welcomed Clara, she was trembling, unsure of what these new humans would do to her. Her trust in humans had been severely compromised.
Once Julie, her foster mom, brought Clara into her home, she began to unwind. Before long, she could pause and simply breathe.
After years of being a mom in a puppy mill and breeding stock, Clara finally transformed into the cherished Poodle she always deserved to be.
Clara received a refreshing bath, and her matted coat was trimmed down. The transformation was already visible.
And her further transformation continued as Clara blossomed into the most affectionate dog.
“I think when she realized she was safe, and we weren’t going to hurt her, we quickly discovered how loving she was, especially with her hugs,” commented her foster mom Julie to The Dodo.
This sweet, once troubled soul revealed the vast reservoir of kindness and affection she had carried within her for so long. Clara began giving hugs by standing upright on her hind legs.
And she truly meant it!

Furever Hugs
Within just a few weeks, Julie successfully found Clara a loving home. It was an easy decision: Clara was as sweet as can be and she was a stunning dog with a long life ahead of her. Who wouldn’t want such a companion?
Clara was renamed Tallulah, and her new mom, Melissa, instantly fell in love with her.
“She just looks at you and emanates love. She loves to be embraced in return. The impact she’s had on our family is nothing short of pure love,” says Melissa in the video.
Whenever Tallulah spots a loved one (which includes just about everyone), she approaches, stands on her hind legs, and envelops them in hugs, showering them with affection and puppy kisses while inquiring for the same in return.
And she won’t stop until you return her affection.
For Tallulah, hugs hold immense importance. She spent so many years without them, yearning for someone to love and reciprocate that love. The struggle of a puppy mill survivor is more daunting than that of any stray dog.
They have been in constant proximity to humans, and yet have been deprived of love, care, and all things nice.
Tallulah was just another statistic. According to Dogster, there are approximately 10,000 puppy mills operating in the USA, with Missouri housing the highest concentration!
Sadly, the numbers don’t decrease year by year.
Our Tallulah was merely breeding stock… an old dog existing solely to generate profits. If it weren’t for Melissa, Tallulah would still be searching for her humans, longing for a hug.
Today, she revels in family life, alongside another rescue pup adopted from Havaheart by Melissa’s family. Life has finally become sweet beyond measure.
We wish Tallulah a future filled with so many hugs that she can hardly contain her joy!
