What truly amazes me about dogs? Their simplicity. They need so little to experience happiness.
A cozy home, nutritious food, a loved one, and a bit of fun make for a dog’s idea of a perfect life.
In a perfect world, this is how every dog would live, but unfortunately, reality often differs. Many face harm from other dogs or humans.
Countless dogs lack a safe place to call home, and that thought is truly heartbreaking. Hobbs’ journey began under similar circumstances.
This unfortunate little guy was abandoned by his previous owner and left to fend for himself on the streets. He faced numerous challenges until someone finally noticed his plight and stepped in to help.
Hobbs’ Lucky Break

Upon hearing about Hobbs, a rescuer from Animal Care Centers of New York sprang into action.
Without hesitation, the rescuer rushed to rescue the distressed pup from the streets and provide him with a new opportunity. After securing him, they returned to the shelter.
After a period of care, they decided to transfer him to Tails of Love rescue, where he continued to receive support as they sought a permanent home for him.
Finding a home was a daunting task, as he was a senior dog struggling with multiple health issues.

Fortunately, one day, a kind stranger visited the shelter and noticed Hobbs. Her name was Catherine, and she instantly connected with him.
Despite Hobbs being quite shy, she was determined to provide him with a chance to heal and rediscover love.
Catherine quickly realized that it would take time for him to truly feel comfortable around her.
Hobbs was understandably frightened. Catherine shared with GeoBeats Animals: “We believe he may have faced abuse. He was quite unsocialized, suggesting he might have been in a tough environment with a family that didn’t care for him, or among many dogs that mistreated him.”
He Is Changing Every Day

Even though helping this dog would be quite a challenge, she chose to embrace it. Hobbs occasionally barked and growled at her, but she remained ready for these reactions.
Catherine gradually began to pet him, ensuring he wouldn’t be startled enough to bite. At that moment, she felt that Hobbs had finally begun to relax.
Hobbs recognized that this gentle woman genuinely wanted to assist him, and soon he fell deeply in love with her.
Catherine observed that Hobbs showed affection mainly towards her. Nonetheless, she made every effort to help him feel more at ease with other people and animals.

She frequently took him for walks, although it often posed challenges for him. With luxating patellas, problematic knees, and arthritis, walking wasn’t always easy.
Whenever Catherine sensed Hobbs was tiring, they would pause for breaks. If walking proved too difficult, she had another strategy.
She explained: “He’s a bit of a slowpoke. Often, I push him around in a stroller or carry him in a baby wrap.”
Hobbs Is Living His Best Life

When she had to leave him for a brief time, she often allows her cats to keep an eye on him, and this arrangement works quite well.
Eventually, Catherine discovered another dog in a different shelter that bore a striking resemblance to Hobbs, and she chose to adopt him as well, ensuring Hobbs would have a furry companion.
To her delight, Hobbs and his new buddy, Little Nacho Supreme, bonded splendidly, and as fellow seniors, they relished their shared love for lounging and napping.
It’s heartwarming to see how, after enduring such hardships, Hobbs can finally unwind and enjoy his golden years alongside an amazing human and many furry siblings.
Catherine concludes by saying: “Every day I look at Hobbs, and his face fills me with joy. Seeing him content and cherished makes me incredibly happy that I adopted him and that he entered my life.”
