You can’t truly appreciate the companionship of rescue dogs until you welcome one into your home. Despite their past hardships and traumas, nearly all these loving creatures transform into some of the kindest pets imaginable, especially when they find their perfect match. Ollie is a perfect example of this journey.
This unfortunate Pittie was trapped in an abandoned Missouri school for days, crying out for help with no one to hear him. Yet, throughout this ordeal, he never lost hope. His desperate gaze through the broken window spoke volumes, longing for the day his savior would arrive—and that day eventually came!
Patiently Waiting For Days For Someone To Notice Him
For Donna Lochmann, an empathetic dog rescuer from Stray Rescue of St. Louis, witnessing Ollie from outside that broken second-story window was incredibly heart-wrenching. He sat there, silently pleading for someone to notice him, until Donna finally appeared.
While the circumstances surrounding how he ended up trapped remain a mystery, the sight awaiting Donna inside shocked her. Ollie had been forced to survive on trash and broken glass for days. With no food, water, or a cozy bed, he had been confined to cold, desolate classrooms littered with refuse.
Jumping Into His Savior’s Arms
Donna, experienced from her years of rescuing dogs, was prepared for many different reactions when she approached Ollie. However, nothing could have prepared her for the warm reception he had in store. This gentle Pittie melted into her arms as if he had been waiting for her all along.
“You could tell it wasn’t an aggressive stance. This dog didn’t have an aggressive bone in his body,” says Donna Lochmann. Ollie is gentle and sweet, allowing Donna to leash him without any resistance. He surrendered into her lap, welcoming all the cuddles.
Finally, Donna’s team lowered Ollie gently through the window to ensure his safety and took him to their facility for recovery. Thankfully, Ollie’s health turned out to be perfectly fine. He rapidly won over the hearts of the staff and quickly made friends at the shelter, eagerly awaiting the arrival of his forever family.
Ollie Can’t Stop Smiling In A New Home
Cassie and her partner discovered Ollie’s heartwarming tale on social media and immediately knew he was the dog they wished to adopt. “My friend sent us the rescue video, and we fell in love right away,” Cassie recalls. Their first meeting was electric; Ollie was overjoyed to meet his new humans and quickly became the biggest lovebug imaginable!
“He doesn’t remember being all alone, scared, and starving in that school. All he knows is what’s happening now, and he is SPOILED,” the SRSL team shared on Facebook.
Ollie quickly acclimated to his new surroundings, reveling in his new parents’ love. He now enjoys daily walks, sharing a bed, receiving the best belly rubs, and making new friends. From a life of solitude in an abandoned building, Ollie has transformed into a happy Pittie embarking on wonderful adventures with his loving family!
