Thinking about puppies instantly brings images of playfulness, joy, and an absence of worries to mind. These adorable and gentle creatures deserve all the good things life can offer, yet sadly, that is not always the case. There are countless moments when puppies are treated as if they are ferocious monsters. Every time I encounter such a story, my heart breaks into a million pieces. Today’s narrative is no exception.
Poor Babies
During a frigid walk in Sealy, Texas, a Good Samaritan made a heart-wrenching discovery—three tiny puppies were abandoned at their apartment complex. With temperatures having dropped drastically, the thought of those puppies spending the night outside felt unbearable. Unable to take the puppies in, this kind soul shared their plight on a local Facebook group and moved them to a vacant storage unit for warmth. They layered the puppies with blankets to ensure they were cozy—this act of kindness helped the puppies survive!
A compassionate Facebook user saw the post about the puppies and reached out to the Sauver Des Chiens German Shepherd rescue (SDC), knowing they could provide the necessary help for these sweet pups. However, as immediate rescue wasn’t possible, she took it upon herself to visit the apartment complex to collect the puppies and bring them into her warm and loving home.
New Beginning
Once the puppies arrived at their new home, they were warmly welcomed. “Her children quickly fell in love with the puppies and made it their mission to care for them,” shared Kylie Jackson, a member of the SDC board of directors and social media manager, in an interview with The Dodo. Fortunately, the seven-week-old puppies were in decent health apart from being covered in fleas, but a good flea bath was all that was needed to remedy that.
The children took joy in naming the puppies, designating the first two as Artemis and Hephaestus, while the playful runt was named Squirt. During their time with this affectionate family, the puppies discovered the meaning of love and care. Subsequently, they were moved to a long-term foster home to continue their recovery process, where they currently thrive with their new foster mom, Taite, enjoying the best moments of their young lives.
“They are settling into their foster home, staying warm, and getting tons of rest and playtime,” SDC announced on Facebook. The puppies still require some veterinary care and vaccinations, but as soon as they complete that journey, they will be ready for adoption!
It’s evident that these three puppies would make wonderful additions to any family. They embody love, kindness, and an eagerness to share it with others. “They love to play and have quickly taken to their favorite toy, a stuffed octopus,” Jackson noted. Witnessing their amazing transformation, I have no doubt that these sweet angels will soon find a perfect family with whom they can share the joys life has to offer. Good luck, little ones. You’ve got this!
