If nightmares were reality, Buddy would definitely be living one.
Though still just a one-year-old puppy, Buddy has already faced incredible adversity. This unfortunate Great Dane mix was discovered wandering the streets of Texas, far removed from a life he deserves.
Upon being rescued and offered a warm, loving home, Buddy experienced happiness for the very first time.
But then, tragedy struck again. And this time, it was monumental!
Buddy’s Heart-Wrenching Journey

A handful of compassionate individuals found Buddy, who was completely disconnected from normal living conditions. They took him in temporarily, but after just a month, they were forced to surrender him to a local Texas shelter.
Regrettably, with no one expressing interest in adopting him, Buddy was marked for euthanasia.
Fortunately, just before he was to face this fate, the shelter discovered his microchip, revealing that he had an owner. However, when they reached out to that owner, they were stunned by the response!

Buddy’s owner showed no interest in him and was perfectly fine with the idea of him being euthanized.
“Upon discovering Buddy’s microchip, the shelter believed they had a reason to rejoice—a chance to reunite a lost dog with his owner. Unfortunately, it was devastating to know that the owner had no intention of taking Buddy back,” stated CUDDLY in their blog post.
After hearing about Buddy’s dire circumstance, a small rescue decided to highlight his story, inspiring a young couple to step in as fosters, allowing Buddy to narrowly escape an incredibly grim fate!
However, the harsh reality was that he was far from well!

The couple quickly learned that Buddy suffered from severe heart and lung damage, which left him unable to stand. The rescue suggested that they return him to the shelter, as they couldn’t financially support his recovery.
Nonetheless, this didn’t deter the couple from striving to help Buddy—they invested thousands into his medical care and ultimately contacted Hoardin’ Huskies Rescue located in Sumter, South Carolina.
In collaboration with CUDDLY, an online platform supporting numerous shelters globally, Hoardin’ Huskies quickly transported Buddy to veterinary care.
For the first time in what felt like ages, Buddy was assured the proper treatment he desperately required. And now, he’s steadily progressing toward a full recovery!
Persistence and Recovery

Getting Buddy to the veterinary clinic required nearly five hours of travel for his fosters. During the journey, they had to provide him with an oxygen tank that was nearly empty by the time they arrived.
“The trip was incredibly stressful for Buddy and his fosters, as he traveled with an oxygen tank that was nearly depleted during the 4 1/2-hour journey,” declared a Cuddly team member.
Buddy was consistently gasping for air due to his dire state, leading to his immediate admission to the ER, where treatment commenced.

This courageous pup is embarking on a lengthy and challenging recovery journey. Yet, the veterinary team is optimistic that with appropriate care and support, Buddy will triumph in this fight.
“He is still receiving oxygen but overall, he is responding well to treatment! Buddy requires two more weeks of rest, and then we sincerely hope he will be just fine,” Cuddly provided in their most recent update.
Through all his trials and tribulations, Buddy never gave up hope. With all that he needs now for a swift recovery, there’s no doubt that this good boy will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel!
