The chances of survival for the pups are slim, and life on the streets is perilous for any dog accustomed to home life.
Sadly, some individuals exhibit apathy, believing it’s acceptable once they no longer feel obligated.
This was the fate of one pregnant dog, but fortunately, her fortunes changed when she was rescued by the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC).
She’s Doing Alright
When Gracie was discovered, the rescuers were appalled by her condition. She was not only pregnant but also severely malnourished. They had no way of knowing how long she had been homeless.
It was unclear who she belonged to earlier and how she ended up in such distress. They speculated that abandonment was likely.
Compounding her plight, it appeared that she had been pregnant for a considerable time and could give birth at any moment.
The rescuers in New York swiftly transported her to a shelter, where she received much-needed medical attention along with ample food and water. However, it was clear that a shelter was not an ideal environment for her. A foster home would provide her the constant care she needed.
Fortunately, she was quickly made comfortable. Now safe, Gracie appeared relieved and content in her warm, cozy space, ready for some rest.
The Most Adorable Puppies
Just a few days after her rescue and transition to a foster home, Gracie went into labor. She instinctively chose a comfortable spot, with her foster parents by her side.
Ultimately, everything turned out well, and the grateful dog is now a proud mother. She welcomed three healthy puppies into the world.
The New York rescuers shared a heartwarming video on their Instagram to update their followers on Gracie’s progress.
People were thrilled to discover that this mama dog has a fighting chance with the loving support of her new foster family.
One supporter commented: “She needs lots of tasty food and cozy blankets to ensure she and her puppies are comfortable.”
I have complete faith that Gracie’s rescuers, who dedicated themselves to her well-being, will provide her with all she requires.
