Among the countless tales I’ve encountered over the years, Blue’s journey stands out as one of my all-time favorites!
This is a tale of perseverance, filled with love and compassion.
For this enormous Greyhound, life started off on a difficult note. Born into the racing world, far from any comforts of home, Blue was treated as mere merchandise without a sense of belonging.
His existence revolved around rigorous training for races, until a tragic event occurred—he suffered a broken leg…
He Was Meant To Be Loved
On the day of his injury, he also lost his home. Abandoned by his owners, Blue found himself homeless.
Enter – Kimberley!
Though initially uncertain about welcoming a Greyhound, Kimberley was heartbroken after hearing about Blue’s past.
“He was dropped off by his trainer at my sister’s place. He was so stressed, pacing on her deck and even throwing up. I almost had a heart attack when I saw his size,” Kimberley shared on Blue’s official Instagram.
Although she was unprepared for such a large dog in her home, she and her family welcomed Blue with open hearts and open arms!
And the rest, as they say, is history!
The Silliest, Toast-Loving Boy
In just a few weeks, Blue blossomed, but he definitely needed some time to adjust.
Initially, during his first days at Kimberley’s residence, he remained shy and introverted. He was hesitant to go for walks, feeling anxious from the surrounding noise. His past traumas left him wary in large social gatherings.
Then came his true self!
When Kimberley witnessed Blue doing his first zoomies, she realized he had found comfort in his new surroundings. What surprised her was his ability to express a wide range of emotions!
This unique boy amazed the entire family with his extraordinary personality.
Blue became vocal, showed great intuition, enjoyed “conversing” with his humans, and had the perfect way of showcasing his feelings.
Above all, he developed a profound love for toast and treats, and he cherished cozy naps on the couch! Whenever awake, he transformed into a sporty companion.
Blue quickly became a beloved family member! He had a way of brightening everyone’s day, not just his human companions. Blue also had a soft spot for other dogs and loved playing in dog parks.
However, he was truly born for urban life! Dressed in stylish outfits, he exuded charm and rocked every look as if he were on a runway!
You Will Always Be Remembered, Blue
Unfortunately, after many cherished years in a nurturing environment, this remarkable rescue pup succumbed to cancer. He fought valiantly up until his final moments, ultimately crossing the rainbow bridge, leaving his loved ones devastated.
“We can hardly recall what life was like without Blue. Every corner of our home reminds us of the boy who was such a huge presence, both figuratively and literally. He’s irreplacable.” his family expressed on Instagram.
Throughout his life, Blue’s narrative touched countless hearts. He exchanged a life of racing for that of a loving family, even becoming an Instagram sensation that captured the attention of people worldwide!
To honor Blue, Kimberley and her family initiated a fundraiser to keep his memory alive. All proceeds will benefit various Greyhound rescue organizations, aiding more dogs in having the lives they deserve.
This is indeed a befitting tribute for a canine who filled his human’s lives with endless joy, wouldn’t you agree?
It also serves as a significant reminder that Greyhounds shouldn’t be kept on racetracks; they belong in loving homes!
